01/25/01 Lotuslead.  Awesome comeback, Sharon.  That teacher appears to be suffering from insecurity.  I just hope I'm dotting my "eyes" and crossing my "tees".    ha ha.  But, I'm not a teacher so I guess I'm safe. We love ya...

12/30/00 Garion Sikora (Euless) - Another fan!
Love your site, keep up the good work.  Saw the bit on Ch 8 and can't believe the city attorney has the gonads to insinuate that you or Dallas.org don't have the right to use the name "Dallas" in a domain name.

Although she [City Atty] denied it, it was an obvious attempt to infringe on your right of free speech.   I am sure our friends at the Civil Liberties Union are ready to jump on this.
Although  I don't live in Dallas, I am behind you.    Let me know if I can help.

Linda Helton, Dallas  - Hi folks!
I have been meaning to look up your website for a long time, and recently the DMN reminded me . I can't believe the city powers-that-be needed a lawyer to remind them of the 1st Amendment.  I don't know when the city council will be up for re-election, but I think it's time for a slate of grass-roots candidates to run against them. Am I just being naive, or are there enough people in this city who would just like our city government to be run fairly and sensibly?
I like to think the "Save Our Pools" exercise this summer was some indication of the level of dissatisfaction with our city officials. I have bookmarked this website.

Whitney Harp - Excellent
I'm glad that someone in this large city, has enough brain and will power to speak about the wrong doings of this city.  I'm also very glad that you are showing the other side to our decision makers.  Way to go.  ~

Ashley Arnwine - Support
Nothing profound here.  Just a show of support.  Keep up the good work and don't give up.  Like you would. . . .

Keith Smith:
Hi,  Saw your site mentioned on the news tonight.
Like the design if not the layout, exactly. And LOVE the attitude.
Sweet, isn't it, that City Hall tries to shut you down and you get even more notice.    Think those guys would know better....
But they are politicians, after all.

Montgomery Sutton:
I'm going to do my best not to be rude - if I do, please accept my apology for it in advance.
I personally don't like the mayor. I'll give you that. A lot of his personal beliefs upset me.  I'm a conservative Republican, so yeah, of course, they do.  But on your page, it seems that all of these things that cost us so little individually but do, or will do, so much for our local economy as a whole, are "evil".
I respect your freedom to voice your opinion, but it just seems a little strange to me.
The arena will jumpstart growth in the West End / Uptown area. If they ever get their 30-story tower done, the sooner the better, it will show that they are serious about improving the area.  People will pre-lease, and it will be able to grow.
DART will serve the area, helping to urbanize it. And we will have the most high-tech arena in the country when it is complete!
I really would like to get a response, though I expect you are flooded with emails (both positive and negative).  I do hope the city isn't able to shut down your site - because that is without question overstepping their boundaries.  God Bless

Mr. Sutton:  Neither the Uptown area, Turtle Creek or Oak Lawn needed a jumpstart.  I live 6 blocks from the arena and can assure you that stuff was being built and purchased long before anyone considered locating a new arena nearby.  There already was a DART alignment that would have better served the area and the West End than what Hicks/Perot got the council to approve.  Finally, the new arena will seat no more attendees than Reunion.   They should have built their place of business themselves and not used one penney of public money.  sb

Nancy Parker:
I am soooooooooo happy to find this website--thanks to Channel 8 News.  I am in absolute agreement with everything I've had the time to read so far.
The citizens of Dallas bought a pig in a poke when we got Ron for mayor.  I don't know if I've ever been more personally disappointed in a local elected official's performance.
Keep up the good work.  You'll be hearing from me!
Thanks for your efforts.      Native Dallasite, 50+ years

(If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning--Catherine Aird)

All of the above were in response to Ch. 8 & 11 reports.

07/20 Neil Planick:
Was wondering what your take is on this story? Noticed this guy Luce bent over backwards and swore up and down to assure everybody that there would be no public money needed or used. We've all heard that BS before. And the gushing and swooning over these fantastic sums of money and how everybody is going to benefit has the stink of many other pipe dreams Dallas was and is involved in. Please unsheathe your verbal scalpel and give us all the low-down on this deal!

07/13 Neil Planick:   Great site!
I live in Plano but watch news events in Dallas closely, especially the Rojas fiasco which demonstrated everything that's bad in America today, in my opinion.
Any sites like yours that deal with Plano? Everyone up here hides in their air conditioned mansions or runs around in their SUV's. But I'm sure there's all kinds of shenanigans going on in the government and news media behind the scenes.
The Plano Star Courier is a joke--a city of this size with no daily local paper? Please!

07/05 Chip Northrup:   Great site. Let me know how I can help. How about a section on Love
Field?

07/05 Jeff Anderson:
Hi Sharon,   You do such a good job with this website.  It's great!
I live in NEt Dallas and the other day wanted to see just what the boundaries were for my district 9.  When I found a map of the district boundaries, I had to laugh.  I had never really paid attention before, but I'm pretty sure that years ago I learned in school that gerrymandering is illegal...  Anyway...my question to you is who is responsible for the district boundaries, and can anything be done to make them logical?  I think I read somewhere the boundaries were going to be changed again soon.  Thanks!
*The lines will be redrawn next year after the Census is complete.  Con Jerk wants to have the 5/01 council elections before the lines are changed because they know the numbers have shifted dramatically and the current configuration will be illegal.  Likely, the next council elections will be in November, 01 and the districts will look very different.

06/14 P Patterson:    I really love your website. Your brutal honesty and integrity is a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great work!

05/29  Ed Baum:   Re:  "Baby Dolls"
Well Done again...you are getting to be a master of the entendre.

05/29 Gehrig:  Re:  "Baby Dolls"
Great read! Your web site is starting to become a habit in the making.

05/23   Alfred B. Carrizales:  I must commend you on your efforts to inform all of the madness which occurs at city hall and public education.  What's been going on in this city on both issues is shameful but the norm.  Adios y Buena Suerte !!

05/22  Marc Esparza:   The web page is nice and all but can u get rid of the music?

05/22  Fred Fels:  Hi Sharon,  I heard you on KLIF this afternoon with Laura Miller; it's good to know you're still so active. Your web site is great, lots of current info.  Your old pal from the "Bad Deal" campaign.

05/11 Rick Andrews:  I guess miracles still DO happen in Dallas, Texas! Democracy in action! The pools HAVE been saved!!! Kudos to Tim Daniels and EVERYONE who cared enough about the KIDS to get involved and make RIGHT what was wrong!!!!  Yee Ha!!!

05/10 Kimberly Woods:  Since the Observer ran that article about you, I have been checking out your web site.   Very smart, cool, funny, and right on the money.
I have to tell you, I checked out Con Jerk's web site.  In between fits of nausea, I got the urge to e-mail the @%*hole, just to tell him, as a citizen, what I think he has done to our city.
Unfortunately, that part of his site wasn't working!
I guess he didn't want to hear what I had to say after all, imagine that.  Just thought you'ld like to know.
    Your newest reader/fan

05/05 Snoopie2:  I note few post here.  You are not as clever as you think.

04/29 Bill Foulk:    Supportive - I read the article from the Observer (from several weeks ago).  I'm totally behind you in your efforts to shed "light" on the stuff that's going on in the City.
I live in Oak Cliff and I voted against the arena deal like many others.  Since I Listen to The Ticket, I heard what you endured from the "jock-heads" who were only interested in their team staying in Dallas.  But alas...most of them don't live in Dallas and very few go to games on a regular basis.
The millions it's going to cost for the new arena have not been completely counted.   No govt. project ever comes in on time or on budget.  I'm counting on you to kick and scream whenever you see Council crap and City disgust.  Keep up the good work.

04/21 Robert Don:  Keep up the good work!!!  Especially keep sticking it to the DMN.
I am embarssed by our local paper which spends more $$ covering sports than it does to cover city government.  Many thanks!

04/20 Gehrig
- re Unethical Council
I believe Clark Birdwel is Clark Birdsall. Enjoy all your articles. Keep up the great work!!
(Thanks for the tip.  SB)

04/18 DSully - re Husband Dwaine
It was all summed up in one small phrase in the article "Husband Dwaine doesn't like reading about his doings".   "THE POOR AND UNIMPORTANT" says it all about the governing body of Dallas.

04/18 Robyn Mirsky:  This site is great!  Just heard about it.  I'm going to spread the word!

04/11 Nightwalker - re Loza's Good Day
Sharon -- Good article on Loza.  Surprising coming from him.  Any sort of publicity we can muster so the public will be informed about DPD problems, the better.   Keep up the good work.

04/06 Distressed Dallasite responds to DMN's Hank Tatum
In regard to your (Mr. Tatum) statement (see column's text) about citizens willing to run for elected office, "They anticipate that their efforts largely will go unappreciated. And there are Web sites waiting and ready to chew them up if they ever make a mistake."
There is a difference in mistakes and criminals acts, corruption, bribery, etc.  You do not see Laura Miller or Donna Blumer being "chewed up."  I think these (Urban Guerilla) sites are necessary, especially considering the one newspaper in town is financially involved with a lot of the people discussed on these sites.  I sure don't expect an unbiased report from the DMN.  You should visit them often.  You might learn something.

3/28 Edward M. Baum on "Managed Poll"
Very well-done piece, just the right combination of strong opinion and humor....the same mix that worked for our literary betters such as Swift, Diderot, and Mencken.

3/27 Anonymous2 - What if we take a poll?

3/27 Yo Sharon!  Your article "Managed Poll" hit right on target on the "mail-in ballot" scheme you described.  Understand a *_____load of people have provided testimony over the past 2 weeks to the Dallas County Grand Jury on alleged voter "mail-in ballot" fraud on the Justice of the Peace Precinct 6 election.   Could you check on this for us out here who keep a watchful eye on your web site?

3/22 Jeffery Chen
Your website is excellent!  Any hell you can give Ron Kirk, is good.  The arena is still a bad deal. And I am a huge fan of the Dallas Stars but it should be my ticket money that pays for an arena. The socialists are slowly winning the war but a good fight is better than no fight at all.  Good luck.

3/13 Paul Patterson
I would suggest that in the future you should refer to the Mayor as "Con Jerk"
.

3/13 Robert D. Barbee
I am very happy to see a web site such as www.dallasarena.com.  Please keep up the good work.  Trust me that if you don't we'll never get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth from the likes of the Mayor or the DMN.  Way to go!

03/10  Karen Elenich
Just wanted to send you a message telling you to keep up the good work.   As you know, lots of us out here were (and still are) opposed to the local corporate welfare program otherwise known as "the arena".  We're also concerned about the ethics (or lack of them) on the part of our elected officials, many of whom seem to have no problem getting in bed with their corporate patrons.  Keep telling it like it is.
Oh, by the way, you were wrong about one thing - Kevin McCarthy is not a sawed-off little runt.  He's an *_______......Well, on second thought, maybe you're half-right....maybe he's both a sawed-off little runt AND an * ________.

03/09 Rick L
I liked the article, except for the DO hallmark cheap shots which are supposed to pass for balanced journalism.

03/09  Byron Gentry
I moved back to Forest Hills last summer after 15 years in the suburbs. Just found out about this site today.  This is really good stuff. Does the fact that I think you are right make me a caustic kook? Oh well, we all have our cross to bear.  Good Luck!

3/09  Distressed Dallasite
Sharon, I read the article in The Observer.  I sent them an e-mail telling them how great I think you are!  I hope the article brings more people to your website.
I love your website.  I feel it's the only place to get the truth.   It seems like you are getting quite a bit of attention lately!  I'm sorry I missed the Channel 11 and Jody Dean spots.
I think more and more citizens are beginning to get fed up with all the dysfunction at City Hall.  I personally would like to see a municipal revolution, with the exception of Laura Miller and Donna Blumer.
Keep up the GREAT work !!!!!

03/09 W. K. Gordon, III
I think the last line (Observer Article) is pretty incisive.  The rest could easily be skipped except as prologue.

03/09 Brent Everett
Sharon, Great website!  I wish I'd known about it a long time ago.  I am a huge opponent of Ron Kirk and the rest of the puppets on the council (Miller and Blumer, being the only exceptions).  I will be telling everyone I know about your site.  Keep up the good work.  Let me know how I can help.

03/01 Jerry P. Ott
Discovered you web site today.  It is nice to know someone else is upset that our mayor and city council feel free to raise my taxes, so they can lower to taxes of zillionaires.  Keep up the good work.

02/29  Pam Bell
Wow!  My husband, saw this site mentioned on TV, he emailed the site to me, how many are on your staff?  Do you do this full time?  How do you keep up with all the dollars?
In Longview, TX, for lack of a better vision, we have emulated Dallas ... even to the point a few years ago of making all downtown streets one-way.  Of course when the mall came all big retail went to the loop.  That was the last nail in the downtown merchant effort.  After it was good and dead, the city reversed itself and made the streets two-way a couple of years ago.
Our governments at all levels can't seem to find enough ways to spend our money.  You have done a great job pointing this out.
Any tips as to how one would start this effort so we could have the same accountability site here in Longview as well as Gregg county?

Your comments about Judge Creuzot are right on target.  Creuzot is smart, articulate and honorable -- a rare combination among elected officials.  Keep up the good work.   (fellow member of the Ethics Task Force)

02/25 Razz
You have a great site.  I have been on the DPD for 25 years.  Something like
this is needed to try and keep things in the open. Razz

With the amount so large ($800,000,000) to the city, why is this topic of little interest to the Managed News and to other publications that keep our citizens informed?  If the city screwed up with this back pay issue, why aren't more heads rolling out of government and criminal prosecutions showing up in our courts.  If the amount is that much, isn't that stealing at or above misdemeanor amounts?  Thanks for keeping the vigil.

    Jr's Millions -
I have not looked at the web site for a while, but thought I'd see what was up.  Unfortunately, the economy is too good for anyone to raise hell about this.  Also, Belo is part owner of the thing, so no good coverage will be given.  I just keep thinking how much the City of Dallas would benefit from the hundreds of millions they gave away.  Oh well, little Ross needs the money.  Thanks.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
