Dallas City Hall, Dallas, Texas
SUBJECT: Private Sector Funding
Reference: Previous Dallas City Administration
Hello Council Members:
WHERE IS THE PRIVATE SECTOR FUNDING for all the vital needs of Dallas as
promised by the previous Dallas City administration / previous Mayor?
Remember the stadium at Fair Park, the glorious Trinity River projects, and ON
and ON?
I did not believe at the time that all that private sector funding was
going to materialize. Most of the citizens knew that if anything was going
to get fixed in the City of Dallas, the TAXPAYER was going to be invoiced for
the costs. If fact, approximately 70 percent of the voters knew that
according to the election results for the Olympic Bid. Thank goodness that
Mayor Miller addressed that pending disaster and stopped it in it's tracks.
Now, it appears, The Dallas Cowboys need a place to play and a shopping
center for the spectators to shop in. If the Dallas Cowboys don't like the
current capacity of the Cotton Bowl and an open roof, I say, let THEM build
their pipe dream. Our City has got to live within it's means. And
the Council should not keep saying there will be no tax increase as valuations
increase UNLESS the tax rate decreases. I hate to use the STUPID word
(seldom do), but the citizens of Dallas are not ALL STUPID. They
understand higher numbers on their property tax invoices mean a TAX INCREASE.
I encourage the Council to begin to utilize straight talk when using the
words "no tax increase". No tax increase means the bottom line
does not increase. If the City Manager's Office does not understand that,
then some need to be replaced with those who are more
intelligent. Our City must learn to live within it's means, or it will
decay.
