11/14/02  Tax Dollars for Sex Clubs?

It would be nice to be shocked to read about tax dollars being spent in topless clubs in Dallas; however, knowing how this city operates, I am not.   I am disappointed the Tourist & Convention Bureau would feel it necessary to spend tax dollars entertaining potential customers in such establishments.  I don't think the average person feels this is an appropriate use of tax dollars.

What irritates me more is that the city council took money from WRR in the form of a very low interest rate loan to support this type of spending!   The city of Dallas should demand an immediate repayment of this loan at market rates and make it perfectly clear that tax dollars are not to be spent on high priced liquor, wine or women.

What is next?  Payments for brothels?   Do the people in charge of the Tourist & Convention Bureau have no sense of propriety?   Does anything go to make a deal?  Is this city of Dallas or Enron?

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
