10/17/02  Con Jerk claims not to know D.O.C. is a cop hater!

Not that you would know from reading , but Houston gets to read Kirk's response to complaints about his teaming up with a cop hater:

Kirk warns of dangers in Iraq war; Candidate says move could set bad example
By RACHEL GRAVES Copyright 2002 Houston Chronicle Oct. 16, 2002, 11:05PM
. . . Kirk declined to engage Cornyn on an issue with racial undercurrents after the Republican criticized Kirk's attendance at a rally co-sponsored by a "gangsta rap" musician.
Cornyn, who is white, on Wednesday issued a news release slamming Kirk, who is black, for attending an event last weekend co-sponsored by The D.O.C. -- a member of the rap group N.W.A., whose lyrics advocate killing police who abuse minorities.
"Police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect the public," Cornyn said. "It is simply wrong to publicly embrace individuals who advocate and glorify the murder of law enforcement officers."
Kirk said he attended the rally as part of an effort to get young people to vote.
"I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't know who D.O.C. was," he said.

Kirk declined to respond to questions about whether Cornyn was trying to force a racially divisive issue into the campaign. . . .

This reporter, Rachel Graves, should be writing for the
.    It was Ron Kirk who was "trying to force a racially divisive issue into the campaign".

The Cornyn campaign was not invited and did not attend a political rally for racist cop haters -- that was Ron Kirk.
The Cornyn campaign did not jeopardize the non-profit status of The Black Academy of Arts and Letters -- that was former Mayor Ron Kirk.
The Cornyn campaign did not use taxpayer owned property to promote those who encourage violence against police -- that was former Mayor Ron Kirk.

You read the excerpts from "F**k the Police".  There was nothing in it about just "killing police who abuse minorities."  It said "
Ice Cube will swarm On any mutha** in a blue uniform".    When I re-read the cite in Racist Kirk, it hit me that a lot more "minorities" are killed by "minorities" than by police in any city in any state in this whole country.   But that's another issue for another edition.

At Hip-Hop Summit, Kirk pleads for generation to vote; In audience, Green Party hopeful criticizes Democrat's record
10/13/2002 By GROMER JEFFERS Jr. / The Dallas Morning News
Senate candidate Ron Kirk, in a tight race with rival John Cornyn, turned to the hip-hop generation for help Saturday, calling the thousands of youngsters and musicians who attended a Dallas summit an untapped political resource.
"Your vote is powerful and will make a difference in the election," Mr. Kirk said at the Dallas/Fort Worth Hip-Hop Summit. "Obviously, I want you to vote for me, but please just vote."
Mr. Kirk was joined Saturday by Russell Simmons, chairman of Island Def Jam Records; Hip-Hop Summit Action Network President Benjamin F. Muhammad (formerly Benjamin Chavis); U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas; former NBA star Larry Johnson; County Commissioner John Wiley Price; and Dallas rapper D.O.C.
"This is the most silent voice in American politics," Mr. Kirk said before addressing the summit. "They have the ability to influence America's direction in policy decisions, if they only vote." . . .
. . .Saturday's events included a hip-hop get out the vote rally for Mr. Kirk and a separate nonpartisan voter registration drive by the NAACP's Rap the Vote project.
"All of us are for Ron Kirk," said Mr. Simmons, adding that the NAACP initiative is separate from his endorsement of Mr. Kirk.  .  .  .
His remarks Saturday marked a rare appearance before a predominantly black national group. In July, he addressed the NAACP convention in Houston. . . .
D.O.C., a.k.a. Tracy Curry, is one of the most influential hip-hop artists to hail from Dallas. He said he would vote for Mr. Kirk.
A writer on N.W.A.'s controversial album Straight Outta Compton, D.O.C. helped usher in 1980s gangsta rap. He said Mr. Kirk has inspired him.
. . .

If Kirk "didn't know who D.O.C. was", why would he want his endorsement?  Well, Kirk probably knew D.O.C. has some money, and with Ron Kirk that cancels out everything else.  You've got money, you are Ron Kirk's friend unless you won't give him any of your money.

Ron Kirk knew who those cop-hating rappers were.  He just thought he could get away with playing up to them and none of his white friends in the Park Cities would know about it.  There is nothing sadder than a dim wit little socialite who thinks she has a clue about anything just because she married well and her husband hasn't left her yet.  That's the kind of people who buy into Ron Kirk.  Socialites and Social Misfits.

Then there's the issue of who else is endorsing Ron Kirk.  While he's out there beating up on Enron and trying to tie them to Cornyn (even though Kirk lobbied for Enroe and got big $$ for doing so), one of those "white Republicans" in his TV ad has some explaining of his own for dumping his TXU stock just before the news hit about their problems in Europe.

There was a lot more of this selling going on in 2001, but it gets redundant after a point.  Use the link at the title of the article to peruse in more detail.

What's that old saying?  "People who live in glass houses...".

Ron Kirk should have known with whom he was sharing a stage, particularly a racist cop-hater.  That's bad planning on his staff's part, but he hired his staff, and Ron Kirk never does his homework.
Ron Kirk should have known he was opening up a can of worms with the Enron thing since he has kept Dave Biegler in such a prominent place in his campaign.  Of course, Dave Biegler should have thought twice before exposing himself to scrutiny in light of questions about his and Nye's inside trading at TXU.
Then there's that California realtor who claims to be a Dallas businessman backing  Kirk.  The guy gets to Dallas flat broke and finagles City Hall to subsidize his deals, even though he left behind mayhem and lawsuits with the City of Los Angeles.

These situations example the kind of senator Ron Kirk would be -- blundering into situations because he has no substance or information, then back-tracking and apologizing when he gets caught in the huge blunder and always playing the race card when all else fails to cover his huge blunder.

You can move the Racist Kirk out of Austin, but you can't take the Racist out of Ron Kirk.
