10/14/02  Kirk's afraid of National Debate

Do you think it's because he has absolutely no substance, no command of the facts and is afraid of national exposure?  It's Ron Kirk who is a big bag of wind.  Surely, Kirk is not confusing Tim Russert with the Big Bad Wolf!  After all, last weekend Ron Kirk was partying hearty with a bunch of gangsta rapper thugs.  Why would Ron Kirk be afraid of Tim Russert? W. K. Gordon, III:
It is no surprise that Ron Kirk is afraid to appear with John Cornyn on a national TV show, even when moderated by a Democrat like Tim Russert.
Kirk was a lousy mayor who sold out the city to a select few wealthy and ruthless developers, taking a half million dollar (this much is documented -- no telling what else is involved) payoff through his wife, obligating the city to awful deals, and leaving the city $95,000,000 in debt.
On top of this, Kirk was an arrogant and foul-mouthed hothead who relished bullying female council members.
I hope you keep at this poor excuse for a man so your readers might get a glimpse of the true Ron Kirk.  Partisan politics notwithstanding, this man is simply not worthy of any informed Texan's vote.

NEW: National TV debate between Cornyn, Kirk still possible
By W. Gardner Selby
Express-News Austin Bureau  Web Posted : 10/11/2002 4:21 PM
U.S. Senate candidates Ron Kirk and John Cornyn, who have agreed to debate Oct. 23 in Dallas and the next night in Brownsville, still might debate on national TV.
Both had been invited to appear on NBC-TV?s ?Meet the Press? on Oct. 6, but Kirk passed.
. . . Kirk called the program?s host, NBC?s Washington bureau chief Tim Russert, a ?huff and puff.?
Russert, whose program reaches 6 million viewers a week, was mystified.
?What is a ?huff and puff??? Russert said today. ?Sometimes candidates get tired and say things. I?m here to do my job, and I want to do a debate with the candidates from Texas.? . . .

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
