08/20/02 I want my Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart will be making a presentation at our crime watch on
Wednesday at Oak Lawn Library at noon, 8/20/02.
I had a long, bitter argument with Veletta some time back, and she seems
violently opposed to our getting more shopping opportunities.
This crime going up thing is absolute nonsense. What crime? The store getting
stuck up??
If there is mugging in the parking lot, then they will have to provide security
or there won't be any customers.
When I worked the Early Voting Ballot Board, the judge is from the NorthPark/Love
Field neighborhood, and several of her clerks just so happen to also be from
there, too. We had unanimity of thought that people 1) want a place to shop and
2) want a place to work.
It appears that only the people in Greenway Park and Highland Park think that
Wal-Mart ought to be way out in the suburbs and you and I should saddle up our
SUV's and ride 'em out.
I, however, think this store would put pressure on Simon David and other
supermarkets to be highly competitive. I don't propose to add to the
traffic, because I will be going out there on the bus!
