July 27 DISD Election
--
The candidates in blue get DallasArena.com's endorsement for the indicated
reason. In 3 districts, there are no endorsements. The only
incumbents receiving DallasArena.com endorsements are President
Ken Zornes and Rafael
Anchia.
Kathleen Leos and Roxan Staff are not running again for their seats.
DallasArena.com supported Dr. Lew Blackburn in his first election when he was
with East Texas State, but as an employee of an adjacent school district, Wilmer
Hutchins, he should not be holding elected office -- particularly on
the DISD School Board. We
need more business people -- not government employees on the Board. Other
incumbents have stayed too long on the board and need to be replaced.
Check your latest voter registration certificate to confirm in which district
you reside. Or -- you can go to the Elections Dept web site via this link www.dalcoelections.org/voters.asp
and type in the appropriate information to find out everything you want to know
-- from your precinct number to your city council district to your state and
federal districts to your school board district.

Melvin
Cannon, manufacturing representative
Charles Hamblin, certified public accountant
Ken
Zornes, educator - Ken
is current Board President. He has done such a good job, he should
be re-elected to both the Board and to be President - incumbent. DMN |

|
Evan
Brauman Fetter, businessman, endorsed by Classroom Teachers of Dallas for
District 2 and Dallas Gay and Lesbian Alliance.
Rick Finlan, businessman
- Rick
has been a government watchdog in this city for over 20 years. Some
of his efforts have failed, but he never backs off. Unfortunately, he now
endorses a state income tax to support public education.
Jack Lowe, executive - very ODB, but very
decent man who will bring his big business experience as CEO of
Texas Distributors to the Board. DMN |
| |
| 3 |
|
Joe
Mir, businessman - Mr. Mir is Hispanic and would bring new
energy and a new, positive perspective to the Board. DMN
Lois Parrott, professor - incumbent
|
| |
| 4 |
|
Myrtle
Siddall, retired teacher
George Williams, economic development - incumbent DMN

| 6 |
|
Hollis
Brashear, retired U.S. Army. Have supported Mr. Brashear in the
past, but he may have been there too long - incumbent
Betty Culbreath-Lister, director County Health and Human Services
Dept. It is inappropriate for a government employee to serve as
an elected official of any government agency in the same county;
otherwise, Betty would be a good choice.
Olan Hankins, retired teacher
Joe Tave, businessman
No
endorsement. |
| |

|
Rafael
Anchia, lawyer - Rafael has been an effective and articulate member on
the Board and should be returned - incumbent DMN
Louis Trujillo, tax and financial service |
| |

|
Mike Martinez, training director, Brinker International DMN
Joe May, business development - mail-in vote ballot harvester -- should
never have a public office for anything.

|
Brent
Alan Brown, architect DMN
Ron Price, university academic coordinator - he has abused his position --
overuse of his DISD
