With the vote on Wednesday, May 22 to grant the developers of the
Victory/Palladium project another $43 million tax abatement, the majority
of village idiots on our city council sent a loud and strong message to
present and future developers. You can make any deal you want to with
the city of Dallas, you can promise the moon and the stars, and you will not
be held accountable.

What's more,
if you don't deliver on what you promised, we will give you millions
more in tax abatements for more empty and inflated promises. |
Does anyone really believe that
Palladium will have $385 million of development on the ground in three years?
They don't have to.
Our two local corporate deadbeats, Hicks/Perot,Jr. didn't have to, even though
Perot said there would be development on this site by 2002.
So why should these guys from New York think they are under the gun to deliver?
I would be willing to bet if Palladium does nothing more than construct a tar
paper shack on that 40 acres around the arena in three years, that Don Hill
will be leading the charge to give Ken Wong and his buddies more tax
abatements.
In fact, Laura Miller's, number one reason to vote NO on this additional tax
abatement for the Victory(Sucker) Development was because they will be back
for more.
Now, the only question to be answered is this: Did any spouses,
partners, sons, daughters, mothers or fathers of the nine council members
that voted yes for this tax abatement receive any stock options from
Palladium? Just wondering....
