05/23/02 I hate it when you are right!
You know how I feel about Ed Oakley, so you know I especially hate to say they
UNFORTUNATELY, you are right again! What was he thinking?!
As his constituent, I will write him a letter to let him know (AGAIN) what a BAD
DEAL this whole thing is.
Frankly, unless we (you, me, and other like us) just decide to pack up and move
away, the Dallas we had hoped for is SOLD DOWN THE TRINITY RIVER FOR GOOD!
I like to think of myself as an optimist, but the BEST CASE SCENARIO for us now
is that "All is lost"!
Why? Roads -- gone! Libraries -- gone! Parks -- gone!
Because all of the RICH GUYS got all of our money. I am afraid that it
will get a lot worse before it gets totally dead.
In my MBA classes when I pointed out that the Summer Olympic bid was a bad idea
because it gets
too HOT in TEXAS in July and August, it fell on deaf ears.
When I wrote on a test that Telecoms and Dot-coms could only command a small
part of the market, I lost a whole grade point last year. Then came the
shake outs, the lay-offs, 9-11, Enron, etc.
I have figured out that most things run in cycles, not straight lines. You
probably still know an Oak
Lawn business person or two who is still saying "When the office market
comes back, I can make a
killing on this lot". You know, the vacant properties that are still
sitting there vacant since 1985 ... you know the ones (smile).
At any rate, I am starting to rant and rave, so I will stop now.
Take care and once in while, TRY to be wrong about something so I can feel good
about some of our politicians. (smile).
Thanks.
