05/08/02 Pay Referendum
I am on an emotional roller coaster. I had hoped the citizens of Dallas would
finally put a stop to wasteful spending at city hall and let the council know
our priorities.
As of last Saturday, citizens were, once again, swayed by the rhetoric at city
hall. Our Mayor, in her campaign promise stated she would help the Fire and
Police. All she did was give a token to these gallant public servants. I am
heart sick.
I have worked with Fire and Police in Carrollton, Richardson and Plano and I can
tell you, the activity in those areas is nothing compared to what Dallas Fire
and Police have on a nightly basis. And, those areas are paid more.
I do not understand the thinking. I called my Precinct and the information
I was getting was, "I do not want to give Chief Bolton one more
penny. He has cost us enough." I tried to explain to people, we
had to give him a raise because when he was no longer chief, we could get a
responsible person to lead our brave men and women. My arguments failed.
I will be at city hall to watch and see what "big ticket" items are
passed and who on the council votes for what. I intend to work hard
against those who do not support the priorities of the citizens.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Please come join me and a few others and hold OUR
government accountable!
