05/06/02 The Pay Referendum NO vote:
Tempers are Hot, mine is no exception. Any way you look at the situation
regarding the 67% NO vote the word 'pathetic' keeps coming to mind.
It's pathetic that so few people voted. I was voter number 184 in a precinct
that has over 2000 registered voters-pathetic.
We'll see if our new mayor, and the council are serious about 'smart' pay for
our public safety personnel, and fight to repeal the pay parity law.
However, our City government, and its' overall leadership skills-pathetic.
The selfish City workers whining about the 17% pay increase, and they get
none-pathetic.
The article that I read in 'undergroundcop.com' stating that all 911 calls
should be responded to by driving the speed limit to the call, and finishing all
reports before being available for another call-pathetic.
The leadership of the police, and fire, that turned away volunteers who wanted
to help them 'win' the referendum,-pathetic.
What we can clearly see from Saturday's vote is that the citizens of Dallas have
very little confidence in Chief Bolton, and his command staff. Also, like the
rest of the nation voters in Dallas could really care less about what's
happening in the 'real' world.
I voted 'yes' for the pay raise, and hope that this city of ours will wake up,
and decide not to be so damn pathetic.
