Sharon, I agree DPD officers deserve their 17% raise, and then some.  

I agree wholeheartedly with the arguments in your article.  However, as an officer with the Addison P.D., I always hear from various people the common misconception that APD officers make all kinds of money.  That is just not true anymore.  

As a matter of fact, I know a DPD officer who makes what I make with the same years of experience.  In Addison, we are also fighting for more pay since we have been left behind by all of our neighboring cities.  It's just more low key because the common Joe would think it's ridiculous if we went to the papers with our argument, since most people think that we don't do anything on duty anyway.  

I am just letting you know that using Addison as an example of higher pay is far outdated, especially compared to Plano.  All and all of our surrounding cities' starting pay is more than a five year APD officer's pay.
