03/08/02 Truth about Kirk
Here is a letter I sent to Houston Chronicle to help get the TRUTH out about
Kirk. As a Republican, I will be taking my family and our four votes to
the Democratic primary and help flush Kirk down the sewer pipe of politics by
voting for Bentsen or Morales.

Subject: Don't be fooled by Kirk's propaganda
One of Ron Kirk's themes for his Senate campaign is that he is a uniter and will
bring people together. As a 49 year lifelong resident of Dallas I can tell
you that is false statement concerning Kirk's six year term as mayor of Dallas.
Of the two votes that he likes to point to as his "legacy", the arena
vote to provide taxpayer funding for the American Airlines center, and the
Trinity River bond issue to build a chain of lakes and parks along the river,
both of these issues narrowly passed by less than one percent. Both of
these were heavily promoted by Kirk and they split the city and did not unite
us.
His style of governing as mayor was more like that of a third world dictator
than a free world mayor. With Kirk, it was my way or the highway. He
was known for cutting people off that disagreed with him, and behind closed
doors in executive council meetings, it is no secret that Kirk used rude and
profane language toward those who dared to question him or disagree with him.
Ron Kirk is nothing more than a grandstanding, "Howdy Doody"
politician for sale to the highest bidder. Just check out his latest
campaign finance report to see who "owns" Kirk and who he will
represent if elected Senator.
Texans need a statesman who will represent all the people of Texas, not a
self-serving politician.
