Mayoral candidates' campaigns
demonstrate how they would lead as mayor.
Mayoral candidate Tom Dunning has been the leader of many surrogates, one of
which is Carol Reed (paid umpteen thousand dollars) who manages his campaign,
and he responds at every turn "I didn't know about this, it wasn't
me."
Carol Reed, the six-figure highly-paid political consultant heading his
campaign, knows campaigning, knows the law, knows right from wrong:
2012 Olympic footage in a Dunning campaign commercial:
"Oops! It's a simple mistake. Don't know how that happened.
But, it's no big deal that it's copyrighted."
Planting Dunning campaign signs in yards before the 60-day
restriction: "Oops! Didn't know it was illegal, it's no
big deal."
Channel 4 News reporter in a Dunning campaign commercial:
"Oops! Didn't know it was unethical. It's no big deal."
City Council Member James Fantroy sends out a Dunning
endorsement letter on official City of Dallas letterhead:
"Oops! Didn't know it was illegal, it's no big deal."
Dunning campaign sends out a city-wide mailing with titles
of five council members - acting mayor Mary Poss, council members James
Fantroy, Lois Finkelman, Veletta Forsythe Lill, Alan Walne - AND their titles in
direct violation of the City Ethics Code, which prohibits any sitting
councilperson from associating the City of Dallas or their title with their name
as a political endorsement. Carol Reed's response: "Oops!
It was a simple mistake, didn't know it was illegal, it's not big deal."
Dunning fires his campaign manager, a gross incompetent for all to see.
NOT!! He keeps her throughout, relying on her, turning to her, paying her
for her "expertise". This is his evidence of competent
delegation?
How many "simple mistakes" of egregious ethics violations can this
city stand? Oops! Is Britney Spears on the ballot on Feb. 16th?
Laura Miller pushed and passed the city's Ethics Code. It appears that Mr.
Dunning and his high-priced people are completely oblivious to the rules of
conduct and carry an attitude of "not included in all this" in its
practices.
I'm voting for Laura Miller. I trust her. Period.
