I take umbrage to the comments of Rene Martinez claiming Hispanics who attended the press conference on Jan. 21st supporting Laura Miller for the Mayoral runoff election of Feb. 16th were archenemies of Domingo Garcia.

I supported Domingo Garcia for Mayor on Jan. 19th because I believed he was well qualified and I support increased Hispanic representation at all levels of government. That said, my support for Laura Miller is based of my belief that she is now the best person to lead our city in a manner that will address all of our needs and concerns.

As former PTSA President and current Scholarship Chair for DISD's Molina High School I was very impressed with the way Laura Miller responded to a serious traffic problem that existed at our school. Ms. Miller helped to resolve this issue in an expedited manner with cooperation of DISD administration. I have since worked with Ms. Miller on several community issues and I am very impressed with her ability to produce positive results. I believe Ms. Miller does not distinguish between small or big issues, she treats every issue on the same playing level.

My support for Laura Miller is not a slap at Domingo Garcia as Mr. Martinez stated. Given the opportunity, Laura Miller will be a fine Mayor for all of Dallas.
