11/29/03  Spinzone's Take on Fake Drug Cop's Acquittal

The jury ruling in the DPD Narcotics Detective Mark Delapaz case is almost as big a shocker as the finding for the rich guy in Houston who chops up his neighbors.  Spinzone has been following this case as closely as anyone, and is one of the few Hispanics who has been vocal from the beginning about the injustice done to those Mexican Nationals by an Hispanic Police Officer and his informants.

SPINZONE - 11/28/03

The March 20, 2003 Dallas Observer article by Thomas Korosec,  The DA Speaks, gives a snapshot of when Dallas County District Attorney Bill Hill first knew of the fake drug scandal and what he did after he found out about it. The article also gives a good picture of what kind of leadership the Dallas Police Department had at that time as well.     Citizen D:
   W
hat does DallasArena.com think about the Fake Drug Cop being found "not guilty"?
How bad a case did the  prosecution bring in order to lose a "silver platter" case like this one?   Losing a case like this is almost like scoring a perfect "0" on the college SAT tests.
I NEVER thought that I would live to see something like this happen.
Now we have to pay the victims AND the guy who is responsible for putting us in this mess!!
Can the rehiring of Chief Bolton be far behind?

Here are
my thoughts on these areas:

1.    DPD Interim Chief Randy Hampton recently told the media he still has confidence in his supervisors who are over the narcotics division. --

He's got to be kidding When you read
The DA Speaks along with additional information that will soon be available, you'll have no doubt that the supervision of the DPD's Narcotic Division was not in tip top shape.

(2.) Dallas Police Association President Glenn White recently told the press that the acquittal of Delapaz should lay to rest "the continued witch hunt against the men and women of the Dallas Police Department." He also told the press "The officers did nothing wrong and they were basically scammed by some dope dealers." --

The only witch hunt was the one which sent several dozen innocent people to jail, most of them Mexican immigrants.

As for being scammed by dope dealers, why would the DPD risk sending back an officer to Narcotics who was scammed by dope dealers?

If the City of Dallas wants give away more of our tax dollars on lawsuits sending back this officer to his previous assignment, I guess it is the right thing to do.

Boy, this dude has "HOODWINKED" spelled all over his forehead.

You'd think Glenn White (President of the Dallas Police Association) would have the common sense to at least qualify his weird statements by showing some sensitivity towards the individuals and families who were wronged by the actions sponsored by the DPD's Narcotics Division.

One thing for sure, DPA's current leadership is not what it used to be.

Here are two more articles, both from the Dallas Observer:

Dirty or Duped?
Who's to blame for the fake-drug scandal rocking Dallas police? Virtually everyone.  BY MARK DONALD, 3/02/02

and

A Tale of Two Pities Hill felt sorry, Bolton felt nothing over fake drugs BY JIM SCHUTZE

The Schutze article refers to the participation of the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association at some point in time of the DPD's fake drug scandal.

Does anyone know where this group went after this article?

Am I missing anything hereIt seems the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association vanished after this article was published as it relates to media reports.

If there is a unified press conference on this issue next week and if there is anyone out there who knows how to contact the DHBA, maybe an invite is called for.

Does anyone know why Dallas taxpayers are still paying $95,000 for a public relations person who is not an officer and seemingly was on the payroll at the insistence of the former police chief?

Maybe by the start of the next fiscal year (10/04-9/05), Dallas taxpayers won't have that expense on their tax statement

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
