Tuesday, November 13th, I got the threatening e-mail below from Ken Goldberg, some lawyer who hangs out at The Lodge (check out his web site - www.Law-Disorder.com.  What do you think I should do?  If you are a regular DallasArena.com reader, you know what I'm not going to do.  sb

11/13/03  What do you think?

I have been retained to bring suit against you for libel of my clients Dawn & Nick Rizos. My clients have tried to ignore your repeated assaults on their character but the line is drawn and nothing further will be tolerated. Your most recent libelous comment appeared recently as is copied below along with other libelous statements you have published.  If you can prove that my client bribed public officials, secured a license for another sex club, or prove issuance of an illegal dance hall license, please advise me of that proof.  Mind you that the revocation of Strato's dance license does not prove it was illegally obtained.

In addition Nick Rizos is no longer an owner of the Lodge. He has no ownership interest in the property or the business. Dawn Rizos is the sole owner. I caution you onetime, remove your libelous remarks or prove them in a court of law. The Rizos family has been very tolerant of your abuse and that tolerance is at an end. If you choose to proceed then please advise me if you have an attorney that you would like me to contact in the future. I hope you recognize you are ill-prepared to represent yourself. It is one thing to hold the city council and its employees' feet to the fire, it is another to call people criminals, pimps, and perverts.  You are always free to comment on your disdain for the industry as long as you do not publish falsehoods. Imagine people calling you a whore in a public forum for your children to see. Trial by innuendo, rumor and lies is your forte.

I would be quite willing to discuss this with you in person or on the phone. My phone number may be found at the end of this letter.  I will wait for 5 business days before I take any action. My client would prefer a resolution short of court but that will remain your choice for now.

As appeared on your site:

The sex club operator went on to get a license for another sex club and was illegally granted a dance hall permit for his Stratos bar by current Chief Randy Hampton.

These are not decent people running or staffing these whore houses.  Allen Gwinn has an interesting story coming up on Dallas.org about a recent escapade of administrator for Caligula Rizos who now owns The Lodge and Stratos.  Rizos is the guy who paid off Al Lipscomb and Terrell Bolton to keep cops out of his sex club (since burned down) on NW Hwy.  Rizos is the guy that Interim Chief Hampton granted a dance hall license at Stratos even though the zoning requires a special use permit for that use (permit was rescinded by smarter City Hall staff than Hampton).  DallasArena.com is going to defer to Dallas.org on this little scandal, but you can be sure you will get a heads up (no pun intended) when Allen is ready to publish.

Oh, yes, we are going to take the word of a confessed pimp and drug pusher that a sex club owner gave him money because Caligula Rizos liked Old Al.  That's why John's give hookers money -- because they like the gal (or guy as the case may be) not because they deliver a service.

Old Al met with Caligula Rizos and a "high ranking police officer" who directed police officers out of the Northwest Substation to "lay off" enforcement in the sex clubs on NW Highway.

That's what Caligula Rizos wanted for his $7,700 bribe to Old Al -- no police officers in the clubs to witness what his dancers were doing to the patrons.

Does anyone honestly believe that Chief TB was not the "high ranking police officer" who met with Old Al and Caligula Rizos?  It was particularly galling that Bolton called and congratulated Old Al for his overturned conviction.

A great injustice has been done to my neighborhood by using a technicality to free the man who took a bribe from a whore runner who had been terrorizing our community, Caligula Rizos.  We have not forgotten Old Al sold us out for $7,700 -- so much harm for so little money.  We have not forgotten Terrell Bolton's involvement in the bribe.

Our Mary Lou stepped right up to the microphone and asked Chief TB why he has never tried to determine what officer assisted Old Al Lipscomb in the Nick Rizos bribe for non-enforcement dirty deal.  There was a clear implication that she had a really good idea of who that "high ranking officer" was, and Chief TB caught the implication.  How did he respond?

It was like de ja vu all over again.  When Donna Blumer tried to force an investigation to determine the identity of that "HIGH RANKING POLICE OFFICER" who assisted Old Al, John Loza (then Chair of the Public Safety Committee) said it was a waste of time to delve into something that happened 8 or 9 years ago.  That was at least 2 years ago.  So, now it's even older news, but it's still new news to those of us in the Bachman area.

You see, we didn't know about it until 2 years ago.  We knew something was going on to allow the rampant drug dealing and sex dealing and public lewdness in the sex clubs with absolutely no police enforcement -- we just didn't know a high ranking police officer had aided Old Al Lipscomb follow-through on his quid pro quo for the bribe he took from Caligula Rizos.  John Loza thought it was old news and of no consequence in 2001.

DallasArena.com is going to defer to Dallas.org on this little scandal, but you can be sure you will get a heads up (no pun intended) when Allen is ready to publish.

right up there with fake drug busts and sex club owners paying off council members and some "high ranking police officer" ordering police to lay off enforcement of lewdness laws in sex clubs.

What's $645 in the big picture?  It's a lot!  It's $645 spent at The Lodge.  Do you know who owns The Lodge?  Why, it's our good buddy Caligula Nick Rizos.  That's our good buddy who bribed Old Al Lipscomb a miserly $7,700 to get Old Al to get "some high ranking police official" (who we all know was our current Chief of Police Terrell Bolton) to order police personnel at the NW Sub to "lay off" enforcement in the sex clubs on NW Highway.  The Visitors Bureau has been subsidizing a sleazebag who bribed a scumbag city councilman, which councilman was convicted for taking a bigger bribe from yet another sleazebag.  Hopefully, you don't have to be reminded that said scumbag former city councilman was a pimp and drug dealer himself in his younger days -- which probably explains his affection for the pimps who run the sex clubs in Dallas.

This just makes me sick.  Here the city has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending lawsuits by the sex clubs, but these city bureaucrats have used our tax money to subsidize these whorehouses.  Can you believe that we even have to address something so sordid and enact rules that city officials do not spend city money in sex clubs?

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
