08/28/03 A citizen copied us the following response she got from
Fantroy's Aide:
J: Can
you believe the e-mail response I
received from Mary Hasan, assistant to
council member James Fantroy?
I was shocked to receive this e-mail. Her analogy was so off
base. Racism will never die. If poor performance is the issue
for an African-American, they deny it and claim racism.
The same person who hired Bolton four years later fired Bolton. If racism
is the issue, why did Benavides hire Bolton as Chief over other top notch
officials at the time?
But still, I am shocked by Hasan's e-mail. She is a city employee.
My
comment on Web Page:
COMMENTS: based on your comment today:
"We will not sit back and let this continue," said Council
member James Fantroy. "This is a slap in our face like it's never
been slapped before. We won't put up with this any more, this is not the
1950s." -
I would like to know if Bolton was white or hispanic or asian, if you
would say the same thing. I can not understand why Blacks feel
that it is racism, when performance is very obvious!!!! |

Subject: Re: E-Mail from Web Page for Councilmember James Fantroy
Probably because when a hispanic kid was in a
police car and the police played Russian roulette and killed the child,
the responsibility did not lie with the chief. There has been no
other chief in the history of the city that has been micromanaged by the
news media. I guess that is why my councilman thinks that race has
something to do with it. |
