BACHMAN  COMMUNITY  ASSOCIATION

It finally happened . . .

At midnight last night, the last three sexually oriented businesses in Bachman closed their doors !!!

(Word on the street was that one of the dancers incorporated her impersonation of Mayor Laura Miller into her striptease act just before midnight.)

Neighborhood Activists met outside Baby Dolls to personally witness the final minutes of the battle that started in 1986.

City Attorneys Madeleine Johnson, Tom Perkins and Doreen McGookey were also in attendance.  Vice Detectives, Deputy Chief John Martinez, NW Deputy Chief Alfredo Saldana, Crime Prevention Sgt Mark Neby were on hand in case of  incident.

News crews filmed and interviewed.
Patrons left in a loud but orderly manner.
Neighborhood Activists went next door to the new
Mar y Tierra Restaurant for a social celebration.

Baby Dolls opens at its new location at 10250 Shady Trail on Friday, August 1st.

Santa Fe Cabaret will merge into Texas Showgirls on Composite Drive.  They will construct an additional location at Manana & Newkirk.  They also own Stacy's Massage.

Not sure where Fare West a/k/a Chicas Locas is going.

The good news is that there are NO more SOBs in Bachman.

Now, we can go about the business of redeveloping, with family-friendly businesses.

On the first Tuesday in August every year, Bachman area apartment owners / managers / vendors combine resources to host the largest National Night Out event in Dallas.

It will be at Bachman Lake Park Pavilion.  Parade starts at 5:30 on Lakefield Drive and crosses NW Highway into the park.

Don't miss this 10th annual event on August 5th.  Join friends and neighbors to give crime a going away party.  This year, we will also be celebrating the going away of the topless clubs, as well.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
