07/25/03  Officer K wants to know.

The below memo was recently generated regarding officers who worked the Trinity fest getting paid by the city. It seems that over 50 officers who worked to make the Trinity fest a safe place have not yet been paid by the city almost 3 weeks later (and may not get paid) because the world class city of Dallas has not collected the money from the sponsors of YOUR Mayor's big party.
Yet, YOUR mayor is willing to spend hundreds of millions for parks and a roadway in the sewer currently called the Trinity River.  Her Heiness is willing to commit to spend millions on future projects when the city cannot even pay its current bills.

Wonder how many officers will work YOUR Mayor's party next year knowing they may or may not get paid or paid late, if at all?

What kind of "world class city" cannot even pay its bills on time?

Subject: ATTENTION - Officers who worked TRINITYFEST 2003

ATTENTION: All Officers who worked TrinityFest 2003

As of July 23, 2003, 179 officers have been paid for their off-duty work at the TrinityFest Celebration.

52 officers have not yet been paid. These are officers who signed up to work during the final weeks prior to the event, officers at the bottom of the payroll list, and officers whose checks were returned for corrections.

We have been assured that the checks will be issued as soon as the event organizers receive the outstanding sponsor money. Officers are asked to call the Central Ops Administrative office each Wednesday for the next three weeks to determine if their check has been delivered to Central. Checks are delivered on Wednesdays in batches, so please call on that day only. If there is a change in this plan, officers will be called directly to come pick up their checks.

Thank you for your patience. We are sorry about the delay, however, we are working with the promoters to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Contact Sergeant Scott Bratcher or Kim Joiner at 214-670-5059 on Wednesdays.
