06/02/03  -- Protect our Air & Save our Water -- Vote NO JONES TAX!

To:  Dallas City Council     6-1-2003
SUBJECT:  "PURPLE" Environmental Warning...Saturday..5-31-2003
REF:  DMNews.. "Pollution Prompts Warning"...6-1-2003   by Tony Hartzel

Hello Council Members:

We should all feel very fortunate this weekend.  The Cowboys (nor anyone else) is playing in the new "Tom & Jerry" Stadium.

If there were to be a game there at this time, with another few ten's of thousands of vehicles downtown trying to park, then a color brighter than PURPLE might be in order.

To make matters more dangerous, there could be a circus (or something) at the famous Dallas Arena.  That could bring another group of tens of thousands of vehicles to the downtown area.

To top it off, a 4th of July type fireworks presentation could be downtown bringing forth another tens of thousands of vehicles.

When the above combination of events transpire in the Dallas area, we will all be wearing SARS masks and carrying oxygen bottles.

Aside from the "above PURPLE" pollution levels that would be presented, think of all the water consumption at all those events.  I guess the events will have to be held at times other than from 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to comply with the water conservation needs of our almost "dry" city.

I assume there would be no "flushing" allowed.

With all the above in mind, I would vote for no "Tom & Jerry Stadium" in the downtown Dallas Area.  Our environment and our purses can't stand for it.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
