Two
District 9 Candidates endorse Roxan Staff (Dallas,
May 9, 2003) In a show of district unity, the other two candidates in last
weekend?s District 9 Dallas City Council race endorsed Roxan Staff as their
choice in the runoff, to be held on May 31, 2003. Cannon Flowers and Albert
Turner have encouraged their supporters to vote for Roxan Staff.
"She has been straightforward and truthful, and will represent everyone in District 9," said Turner. He continued, "She has real business experience, understands budgets, and will work to cut waste at City Hall." After speaking with both candidates in the runoff, Cannon Flowers decided to endorse Ms. Staff. "Mayor Laura Miller needs strong city council members who will work with her to put Dallas back on track to efficient and strong local government. I trust Roxan to bring to the Council the very things that motivated me to run. She has a vision to move Dallas forward,? Flowers said. Ms. Staff stated ?I am gratified Albert and Cannon recognized the clear difference between Mr. Griffith and me.? Ms. Staff also has been endorsed by Mayor Laura Miller and the Dallas Morning News which stated ?Ms. Staff outshines her nearest competitor...Dallas would profit handsomely from having a council member with Ms. Staff's many accomplishments.? All registered voters in District 9 can vote in May 31 runoff, even if they did not vote in the May 3 General Election. Early and absente voting is expected to open next Wednesday, May 14, through Tuesday, May 27.
