District
6 needs Boyd
I
can't believe that The Dallas Morning News Editorial Board, after
having written extensively about the myriad problems plaguing the Bachman
area, would endorse a complete political neophyte as the person best
suited to represent District 6 on the City Council ("Give Spiller a
Chance," yesterday's Editorials).
You find Sharon Boyd's consistent
opposition to the grandiose "feast at the public trough" schemes
of Dallas' business elite "tiresome"? Oh, boo-hoo.
As a lifelong resident of the Bachman area,
and as a witness to this city's pervasive neglect and outright
deconstruction of this once-lovely part of town, I find your consistent
and slavish devotion to the status quo offensive. You know there's a huge
problem here, but you don't want anyone serving on the City Council who
will criticize the boys downtown. Who do you think got us into this mess
in the first place?
What District 6 desperately needs is
vigorous representation by a kick-rear-and-take-names council activist,
with decades of City Hall experience. Sharon Boyd perfectly fits the bill.
