Dallas LULAC Renewed Relationship with Dallas Mayor Laura Miller &
Jesse Diaz's Personal Endorsement of Laura Miller for Mayor of the City of
Dallas
I am pleased to announce Dallas LULAC has renewed its relationship with Dallas
Mayor Laura Miller. Several weeks ago several Dallas LULAC councils along with
National LULAC President Hector Flores held a press conference to voice concerns
over what appeared to be a strained relationship Mayor Miller had with some
members of the Hispanic community of the City of Dallas. After several meetings
with the Dallas LULAC leadership and Mayor Miller, I am pleased to announce with
endorsement and delegation of our national LULAC (Hector Flores) president, a
positive, healthy and renewed relationship with Mayor Miller.
Beginning immediately, Mayor Miller has agreed to meet on a quarterly basis with
the Dallas LULAC leadership in order to better serve the needs of the Latino
community of the City Dallas. Mayor Miller is to be commended for agreeing to
maintain a communication line with our membership. Her willingness to give
priority to Latino business, education and workforce representation issues
within the city government are music to our ears.
In addition, Dallas LULAC joins with Mayor Miller in calling for a complete,
independent investigation relating to the recent fake drug arrests of Hispanics
by the Dallas Police Department. We urge the Dallas FBI to expedite their
criminal investigation on this matter so we, the citizens of the City of Dallas
may better understand not only how we got to this point in time but to pinpoint
exactly where our system went awry. Furthermore, Dallas LULAC joins with Mayor
Miller in her efforts to pursue with vigor and resolute to hold those
individuals accountable for contributing to the gross civil rights violations of
innocent and helpless individuals who were adversely affected by those illegal
arrests. Finally, as a citizen and taxpayer of the City of Dallas I hereby fully
endorse Mayor Laura Miller in her quest to seek re-election to continue to serve
as Mayor of the City of Dallas. I agree with Mayor Miller, there is much still
to accomplish and I stand ready to assist her in better serving the needs of all
of the citizens of our great city.
