06/14/04 Dallas needs some small town
honesty from its elected officials!
As someone who was born
and raised in a small town of 6,000, I think the City
of Dallas needs leaders who not only can speak of
small town values but produce the values.
The Actress wanting a Golden Globe (Mayor Miller)
had the words and ideas of what makes small towns a great place to raise
children. Once she faked her way into office, her quality of
life ideas were lost and rarely implemented, at best.
Take care of those who take care of you, like our
Police Officers and Firefighters.
Not to mention the taxpayers, who deserve more than one pothole filled by
the Mayor with two scoops from a golden shovel.
The Mayor is not the only one to blame. Council
members are to blame as well.
Wanting to be appointed to a city commission, I sat
with Councilman Loza, one day at a Starbucks after he
agreed to speak with me and listen to my ideas. I
had written a negative letter about the leaders of Dallas to him and several
other council members. Since the meeting,
I have not heard from him, nor been appointed. Maybe he did not like what I had
to say.
The few hours I spoke with him, I heard good ideas from him, but was also
surprised by some of his comments
on the Stadium, White Rock Lake Park, etc.
As I was speaking to him, he was staring off to another direction
for a good 2-3 minutes. I asked what he was
looking at and he apologized and said he was
distracted by a bus flashing its sign saying. ?help,
call police.? He said, oh well, let them worry about it.
That was what really surprised me!
I excused myself and had the cashier call the police for the bus, better safe
than sorry.
Loza is typical of the people we have running our
city. In May 2005, we need to these ELECTED officials,
not only by voting but by running against them.
