Laura Miller
I was a volunteer for Laura Miller's run for Mayor. At the time, I couldn't believe that I, as a Republican, would be working to elect a Democrat. At the time, that didn't matter. As a journalist, and a City Councilwoman, I felt she usually did fight for the right things, fight against those who were on the wrong side of the issues and absolutely fight against corruption and back room deals. Well, since she has been Mayor, she definitely is not the person who I worked to get elected. What has happened to her? Sharon Boyd was a major volunteer for Laura's election. I believe she ran the volunteer phone bank. No small effort, which included several hundred phone volunteers. As time has gone by, l have been feeling more and more distressed by what I see the Mayor doing. Finally, In her own words puts it in perspective for me. In her own words, Laura really make the case for the way I, and I'm sure, many other volunteers feel. Barbara Mathews Blanton, whom I have never have met, really does a good job putting her frustrations, as a volunteer, down on paper. I encourage DallasArena.com readers to re-read her comments -- exactly why neither Sharon, Barbara nor I will be working for Laura's re-election. Laura is aware of the comments about her on DallasArena.com, but she does not respond. Perhaps, it's because she has blown off all the "little people" who she can't expect to assist her again. Maybe, she is not going to run again for Mayor, setting her eyes on the U.S. Senate, or Texas Governor. If she does go for higher office, we will actively work to see she meets the same fate as Ron Kirk. That is what she, and the people, deserve! I have asked a local talk show host to bring this issue up to Laura on her next appearance on his show. |
