05/31/04 Laura Miller from an
Ex-Volunteer's Perspective
Sharon, I worked for the election of Laura Miller the first time from
contributing, to stuffing envelopes, to posting a sign in front of my high
traffic house on Inwood. We also went to her election night party. It
was a pleasure to work for someone I believed could help the city of Dallas.
How could we all have been so wrong??
I should have known her persona was a mirage when both my spouse and I send
resumes as potential city volunteers (silly us,
believing that we could help). Since we didn't have political chops, I didn't
expect that we would be considered for even the lowest
volunteer position. However, I did believe that we would get a post
card from her thanking us for volunteering and that if anything came up,
we would be on file. That is usually the kiss of
death but everyone likes a little thank you without a hand being held out for
yet more money.
Didn't her parents or advisors teach her any manners?
Just letting off a little steam. We have just moved to McKinney so I'm out
of the fray. However,
I continue to financially support those politicians I believe in no matter how
far away I live, except not Laura.... any more..
Regards, Barbara
