05/05/04 Time to Strategize? Research and history do not support that sports are profitable for anyone BUT the players and owners! Players and the owners do not SHARE. They seldom live in the city where the facility is located, and are even less likely to live in the city that the team is named after. They give back barely a pittance in money or community service, and only then because it is stipulated in their contracts. They are PAID for most appearances outside of practices and games. Team owners give only through their tax deductible foundations, and ONLY because it is tax deduction or marketing expense they can write off as a cost of doing business. We have an opportunity to identify, organize and effectively get the 1%-ers to save the County from the same dastardly fate that befell the citizens of Dallas. What do you think? Should we start getting on the phones? Should we sign on with the www.NoJonesTax.com group? Editor's comments: Yes - to all. Dave Capps is heading up the NoJonesTax campaign. He's a straight shooter. Contact him through the website for bumper stickers and to find out how you can help.
