02/12/04 Weisfeld should resign.
As the plot thickens regarding the 'intake center' for the homeless
vagrants in Dallas, it's now clear that the
City doesn't even understand its own role in such a
facility.
What is the facility's main purpose and role
for the homeless in Dallas? Our
representatives have admitted they don't know.
This just shows our city is suffering from a
complete lack of leadership, both
from council members and the mayor.
The city council was ready to vote on a location without even knowing the
mission of such a facility. Apparently, the
mayor didn't even know where the Harry Hines site is located because she told
KLIF listeners last week that it was near Parkland. It is over 4 miles
from Parkland, which is halfway between the site and Downtown.
CBS 11's Sarah Dodds' report crystallizes the fact
that Dallas is as crooked as a three dollar bill.
In this instance, they were caught with their
pants down by a good reporter. John
Loza's appointee, Herschel Weisfeld, should
resign as vice chair of the city's Cultural Affairs Commission.
Resign, period.
Unless Mr. Weisfeld is forced to resign, Dallas
taxpayers can expect the status quo from their city
government. Translation, no representation for
taxpayers, only favors for council members appointees and
friends of the mayor.
