01/29/04 Greenville Avenue Capers
Letter to: Councilwoman Lill
SUBJECT: Lower Greenville Robberies - Crime and
Response Times
Response time of 30 minutes to a crime in progress is completely
unacceptable. (I was quoted 2 hours on a possible crime in progress
out of N. Central station). You need to SERIOUSLY question the
ability of Charles Daniels to lead the Public Safety
Department.
The answer is
obvious. How will he manage a new chief?
With problems that are transpiring around Greenville Ave., there
should be saturation coverage by TAC and all the Reserve that can be
mustered. Anything that moves or looks suspicious needs to be
checked out immediately. |

|
Maybe
the Mayor didn't get the memo about suspending insurance coverage for
Reserve Officers.
Some incentive to serve you
community in a potentially life threatening manner.
|
It's difficult to determine if ANYONE is running the Dallas PD at the
moment. Back in the days of Dep. Chief "Red" Souter, you would not
hear of a 30-minute wait after an assault and robbery.
Management needs to be called on the carpet NOW. The Council has waited
too long and is doing almost nothing to address floating crimes in a
specific area when commuter mapping and
tracking are readily available.
As Council Representative in the area, you should
express immediate outrage -- just like the District
residents are about to do.
Regards,
Rad Field
Dist. 11
