01/08/04 Domingo Garcia
When I wrote my first letter to Domingo Garcia, it
was originally intended to be a Letter to the Editor
to The Dallas Morning News.
I s tumbled on to
DallasArena.com while looking for an e-mail address
for Domingo Garcia. I wanted to send it
to him , as well because I
believe in being fair. To my amazement ,
Mr. Garcia responded to m e. I felt
his response was arrogant .
I have decided to share it with DallasArena.com readers and let you be
the judge . As as soon as I
received his email , I responded back to
him.
Is posting his response wrong? Yes and No . I
came to the conclusion that it would not be fair to only post my comments and
not give him a chance to speak for himself .
Therefore , I am
post ing all the e -mails
between Mr. Garcia and me.

I would like to thank Mr. Domingo Garcia for making sure his political
career stays a float, so that he is able to "represent" the people of
House District 103. YEAH RIGHT!
Mr. Garcia calls any questions about the couple's
legal residences a "political attack." I call his tactics "Selfish
Politics."
I am not impressed by the fact that Mr. Garcia
spends $600.00 a month to establish a fake residence
so he may run for House District 103.
He was quoted
by The Dallas Morning News
as saying, "One of the reasons I intend
to establish my residence...was so I would be qualified to run for the
office of State Representative in House District 103..."
Well, Mr. Garcia,
did you take into consideration that with today's
economic hardships you are
taking away from a family that may desperately need
that residence and can
only afford $600.00 a month?
Or did you take into consideration there might
be a charity that could use that $600.00 a month for people
who are struggling to make
ends meet? A true representative of the people (elected
or not) takes care and gives to the people,
not takes away.
Domingo, you may be a Lawyer,
a community leader, and
feel that you have given enough to
your community, but let me point out this
community is forever changing.
If your future politics reflects your politics of today, I would not
want you as a State Representative. This is
not the way to see your name in
the paper, a questionable star is not a strong
start.
From one citizen to another,
please keep this in mind, "he who gains for himself will never
gain at all." |

Brandon,
I know you don't live in district 103 or have checked my record. So let's
educate you a little,I was a councilman for four years at a salary of
$50.00 per week.I was the author of the bill creating the Latino cultural
center,I hope you visit one day.I established the first new housing in
west Dallas ,CASA RIO ,in almost 40 years in 1994 for low income latinos,I
hope you visit one day.I worked and authored and passed numerous bills in
education, criminal justice, and economic devoplment. They are on the net if
you want to check it out.I served 3 terms in the house and donated my
entire salary of $7000.00 a year to scholarships for high school
students,I served the people for free. This was in the Dallas Morning News
and there are alot of students who can tell you that got a scholarship.
But why the attack,I grew up and went to elementary and jr.high in the
district,my church of 19 years (St.Cecilia)is in the district.I
represented most of the people in the district for over 10 years until the
lines were redrawn in 2001.They know me,they know my record and that is
why I will win even if some people don't believe in democratic elections
between at least 2 candidates.I appreciate your input and I hope one day
you will run for office and try to make a difference for those who have no
voice.Que vayas con Dios. |

Mr. Garcia,
I did not question your past community involvement or your past charity.
I question your present political agenda.
I was more than aware of your involvement and contribution to the
city in the past, but like I pointed out,
this community is forever changing.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I was
raised by my grandparents with only $9,000 a year.
So, I know what it is like to
struggle. Determined to make my family proud, I
became a licensed
Real Estate Agent and was a small business
owner for the Mortuary Transportation Industry,
before selling. I am a
former Chairman of an Advisory Board in Arlington
and also ran for City Council and spoke on behalf of those who had no
voice for public transportation.
I also attended the NALEO convention a few years back,
and I did see you there. Mr. Garcia,
did I mention I am only 26? When I ran for
City Council and was Chairman, I was 24.
So, your hope that one day I run for
office and speak for those who have no voice has
already happened.
I believe in democracy. However,
I also believe in being fair and honest with
the people. In my opinion, your recent political
move is not fair.
I respect your past accomplishments; however,
I will also speak out against what I believe
is wrong. That is why the attack,
as you call it.
I also point out to you that you may feel you have given enough
to the community, and you proved me right with your response.
Thank you for your response. I do appreciate
that. I am always open for discussions
or meeting you have my number. Good luck

What is wrong about giving the voters of district 103 a choice between 2
GOOD CANDIDATES?

Mr. Garcia
I will not leave a question unanswered.
I do not see anything wrong with giving the voters of
District 103 a choice between two candidates.
What I find wrong are the tactics you are
using to become a candidate for 103. You may
not feel you are doing anything wrong . But
you have no bu siness running in that district
if you have to become a candidate with a questionable residence .
I may be speaking for only myself, but I promise you there are people
outside your sphere of influence who will
agree with my thoughts.

Editor's comments: It would be great if the voters of Legislative
District 103 had 2 good candidates -- if they both live in our district.
