01/07/04 The Dallas City
Council Will Save Me?
It was such a relief to learn the Dallas City Council will save me, that
is, they will raise their voice, my voice, in defiance to the USA Patriot Act.
| Is that what I pay them for? After conquering the demons of budget deficits, pot holes,
pimps, prostitutes and drug pushers (not to mention
corrupt public officials), the Dallas City Council
will now rise up to persuade the Bush administration that
the USA Patriot Act infringes on my personal
freedoms.
I listened to Councilman Mitchell
Rasansky talk about the hypocrisy of condemning the Act,
while the city takes $3 million in government
assistance. Then Councilman
John Loza spoke as the anti-federalist freedom
protector we have learned to admire standing up for the average Joe?s personal
freedoms.
Loza and the rest of the council will defend the
citizens of Dallas who don?t know how to defend ourselves
from the Radical Right's
quest to take away our freedoms. |

SUBJECT: Patriot Act .. Preventing 9-11 Type Incidents
The Patriot Act provides all of us a last-ditch effort to gain
intelligence required to help avert 9-11 type
incidents. It is one of the most powerful intelligence vehicles our
government has and needs to protect us all.
Remember -- Intelligence is
important to us all. Those on the Dallas City
Council should exercise "intelligence" when it
addresses this important subject.
Perhaps our crime rate in Dallas would be
lower if we exercised greater intelligence
and techniques by which to gather it. |
Thank them, bless them, and give them lots of money for their next campaign.
Thank God, the council
will save us --- gag.
I?m sooooo impressed with the diligence our city council
has shone in defiance of the Bush Administrations attempt to thwart our personal
freedoms. I?m absolutely sure all council
members have read the bill from the 107th Congress 1st
session, H. R. 3162.
Our council's knowledge of Title
II: Enhanced Surveillance Procedures -- I?m
feeling soooo protected by
the Dallas City Council's protest.
Now, there's no need for me to contact my Congressman
or Senator. The city council is on the job.
As the council members read the entire Act my heart tells me they found great
difference with Title III, International Money Laundering Abatement And
Anti-Terrorist Financing Act.
Look at what we find under
Subtitle B: Secrecy Act Amendments And Related
Improvements?

Title IV:

Automated Fingerprint System For Ports And Overseas Consular Posts.

Sec.
377: |
Extraterritorial
Jurisdiction or Section 404:
Limited Authority To Pay Overtime. |
The last thing we want are our hard-earned tax dollars going toward is a border
patrol agent working overtime to protect us from terrorists.
Surely, our council will specify the sections with
which they agree and disagree. After all,
the council speaks for us, the citizens of DALLAS,
TEXAS who can?t think for ourselves, send a letter, email or phone call to our
elected officials. The city council speaks
for the entire city.
Our city council is earning every dollar we taxpayers
pay them. Thank God,
they are thinking for us!
Moving along, and sorry for the
long ride -- It has its own mind now.
Is our city council talking about protesting
Section 412: Mandatory Detention of Suspected
Terrorists; Habeas Corpus, Judicial Review?
I?m sure that Anti-Federalist John Loza can answer that wwwasckally
Habeas Corpus question. He can always ask Mr.
Steve Wolens for help?
Section 416: ?Foreign Student
Monitoring Program? has always rubbed me the wrong way.
How about Section 802: ?Definition Of Domestic Terrorism?.
Who established that definition anyway?? How does our
Anti-Federalist savior, John Loza define "domestic terrorism"?
I could go on and on through
Sections 803-1014. Section
1014 is the grant program for state and local domestic
preparedness support Mr. Rasansky talked about, as
well as Section 1016, ?Critical Infrastructure
Protection.?
Can you say ?$3 million dollars to Dallas??
Slam the bill in the name of Dallas citizens, but take the money.
God knows we need the green.
I?d like to thank those of you who
finished reading this satirical article.
My point is clear to my kindred spirits -- the
Dallas City Council has no business attempting to represent me as for or against
the USA Patriot Act and its amendments.
When the council has solved the budget shortages, released
us from being the top crime city in the nation, fixed
our streets, has code compliance within reach, used
H.B. 460 to push the pimps and prostitutes out of the city, has our parks in
pristine shape and has the DPD humming along twiddling their thumbs
for something to do -- then the city council
may need something to do like protest the USA Patriot
Act.
Editor's comments: Gary Turner is the Editor/Publisher of
Crimes & Politics,
a local periodical. DallasArena.com agrees with all of his points.
National issues are way beyond the scope of airheads like John Loza. Thank
goodness, we have Mitch Rasansky for common sense at City Hall.
