01/07/04  Is Domingo Garcia's Mimicing Dan Morales?

Note: Got to hand it to Dallasarena.com for publishing
Estanislao Rodriguez's  letter one day prior to the slightly edited version published in The Dallas Morning News, but Rodriguez scored a double-hitter.

It is widely known that Domingo Garcia was disqualified as a candidate for State Rep in District 103.  As expected, he is now fighting the decision to disqualify him in court.

Spinzone has received a lot of comments from la gente (the community) wondering what's up with all of this.  Some of those calling us might even be called psychic because they wonder if Domingo and Dr. Elba plan to pull a Dan Morales trick and produce a backdated lease to prove their residency in District 103.

In court on Tuesday, Garcia produced a lease saying he had rented a house in District 103 from his good friend, Sam Cortez, back in September.

You know, former Attorney General Dan Morales is now sitting in prison for these types of tricks.  We sure hope Sam Cortez (Domingo Garcia's longtime friend) is not party to any trickery.

Domingo Garcia needs to do the right thing and produce indisputable proof of residency.  This issue is too important to depend solely on a lease provided by a friend as proof of residency.

Whatever other documents are provided to prove residency need to be without question and of the utmost integrity because we sure don't want to see anyone else go the same route as Dan Morales.

We might be wrong, but the Spinzone writers believe our community needs

elected leaders who are of unquestionable integrity and ethics, and

elected leaders who are focused on solving problems, not creating them.

If Domingo Garcia can't come clean with the truth, we hope Dr. Elba will.

Our children are watching and learning from us, their elders.  What lessons are Dr. Elba and Domingo Garcia teaching our children and their own sons

Truth and integrity or blind ambition?

We know the answer from Domingo Garcia.  We still have to hear the answer from Dr. Elba.

It's up to the rest of us to make sure that the truth prevails.
