01/06/04 Garcia's Saga Continue ...
Re: ?Garcia ineligible for race?
? Dallas Morning News Jan. 6th
A
well-known Spanish proverb says, "Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres."
In English it translates into "Tell me who you walk with and I?ll tell you who
you are"
| Dr. Elba Garcia is married to former State
Rep. Domingo Garcia. We'll get back to the point in a
minute.
Domingo Garcia has been known to
engage in untruth and half-truths for many years. The last well-known episode
was when he accused Mayor Laura Miller of trying to buy his support. When asked
to prove it before the cameras, he couldn't do it.
The newest episode of untruths happened this past Friday when he filed to run
for State Rep in District
103, even though he does not live in the district.
The residency requirement for the legislature is to have lived in the district
for one year. Mr. Garcia's voter registration, home exemption and driver's
license all list his long-term residence on 5th Street in Oak Cliff, which
happens to be in District 104.

Mary Lou Montes Zijderveld:
As a Mexican (I was born in Monterrey,
Mexico), I agree with the comments
of Mr. Rodriguez.
It is time
for any one who wants to run for office to
be above reproach and have the highest integrity (no matter
their race).
As a Mexican,
I am always offended when the race card is used to try to get
ahead. That is why many of us are offended by Mr. Garcia's
ploy to do just about anything to get what he
wants.
As parents,
Mr. & Mrs. Garcia should do the right thing in
this matter. It would be very sad for their
children to be humiliated by scandal. The outcome
of this will show what kind of people they really are. |

Susan Hays, Democratic Party
Chairperson for Dallas County disqualified him as a candidate Monday,
January 5th, because he does not meet the constitutionally mandated
residency requirement.
Earlier this week on
Spanish-language newscasts, Mr. Garcia stated that, "We cannot let 'them'
decide who will represent us." He has turned this into a racial issue
instead of admitting he is trying to circumvent the law by running for state
rep in a district where he does not live.
In the newscasts, Mr. Garcia stated that he grew up in Little Mexico and
that Little Mexico is in District 103. He may have grown up there, but he
has not lived there for many, many years. |

Editor's comments:
Domingo Garcia went to school and played football in then very
ANGLO Richardson.
It must be a shock to his old Richardson classmates to learn
they lived in Little Mexico.
Another Garcia fable. |
Now, back to Dr. Elba Garcia and the Spanish proverb
-- dime con quien andas (Tell me who you walk with)
...
As an elected official, Dr. Garcia needs to clarify her family's residency
status. Will she tell the truth, or will she also begin to engage in
half-truths and untruths to further her husband's maneuver to run illegally to
represent a district where neither he,
nor she and their children reside?
Message to Dr. Garcia: As an elected
official, the voters deserve to know the truth of your residency from you. If
your husband is to be believed and you do live in State Rep District 103, that
puts you outside of City Council District 1.
Dr. Garcia, do you live in the council district you represent on the City
Council or do you live outside the district you represent?
The voters deserve to know the truth of your family's residency from you. We
hope you will respond very soon.
Respectfully,
Estanislao Rodriguez
