The Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) has great news to report!

At the end of 2003, we had provided more than 2,200 free spay and neuter surgeries to low income families in Dallas County and some adjacent counties. If you apply the accepted formula, that?s 1,114,743,000 ? that?s correct -  more than 1 billion dogs and cats potentially prevented from being born in the next 6.5 years.

Even though we raised almost $100,000 to accomplish this great success, we will need much more funding to keep our program alive for the puppy and kitten season fast approaching in 2004.

We have potential new grants that may provide funding in the late summer and fall of 2004; however, we will need about $30,000 to keep our program available on an unlimited basis until then.

We pay between $5,000 to $7,000 per month to our vets and clinics to meet the demand for spay and neuter services in our area.  We have paid all our bills on time, and have no outstanding debt to anyone.  We have a record of which we can be very proud.

MAC?s board and committee members receive no compensation or reimbursement, therefore you can trust that every penny goes into spay and neuter.  The only other funds we spend are for our phone line and printing of our free coupons.

We have not "hoarded" our funds to last over a given period of time. We have not turned people away to wait until another month, while their pets had more litters.  We have spayed and neutered as fast as people requested help.

Here?s what you can do to help!  We had great success raising funds for the Dallas Animal Shelter Bond Campaign, by simply forwarding e-mails to everyone we collectively know who loves animals. We need you to do that again. Send this message far and wide to ask those who care about making our area a "no kill" region to contribute to the MAC program.

Let us know if your company would make a contribution. If so, please get specifics and pass them along to us.

We need to raise $30,000 by February 14 ? a great valentine?s day gift to the animals of Dallas and Dallas County. Participate in MAC?s "HAVE A HEART" Campaign.

Please mail your donations to:     Metroplex Animal Coalition

Thank you,

Editor's Comments:  This is one of the most cost effective and humane things you can do with your charitable donations.  I cannot tell you how important this is to low income communities in Dallas where wild dogs and cats roam and procreate.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
