10/04  Verified Alarm Response

Below is an email I sent the mayor an council members.  If you feel as I do you may email the mayor and council by clicking on this http://www.ci.dallas.tx.us/forms/mcc/MCC_Mail_Form.htm

Dear Mayor and Council,

I encourage each of you to vote against this measure.  Statistics contradict the information you all are trying to get us law-abiding citizens to buy into.

I have researched this issue and cities that have VR have seen an INCREASE in their crime rate.  Dallas cannot afford to have any further increase in our crime rate.  Few homeowners with families select Dallas as their residence already because of our high crime rate.

I have been burglarized twice and each time I have had an alarm system.  Not only do I have to pay a monthly monitoring fee, but I have also had to spend $1,500 on alarm equipment.  If the City of Dallas (DPD) could get a grip on curbing crime, I might not even have the need of an alarm system. I have already installed steel doors with steel door jams, burglar bars, glass breakage detectors, back-up cell phone system to protect my property.  I have already done my part.  Now it is time for you all to get back to the BASICS and that is protecting us law-abiding citizens.

What is to assure us that someone from the alarm company will respond?  Can you all guarantee someone from the alarm company will respond?  If the answer is "No", then you must not vote for this measure.  We are already apprehensive about even walking around in my neighborhood after dark due to lack of police presence.  We pay taxes and expect you all as elected officials to make certain this BASIC city service is left intact.

If any of you have loved ones and/or valuables, I am certain you will vote against this measure.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
