What Is Going On With
Residential Police Protection In Dallas ? |
Citizens of
Dallas--- it is time to face, once more, the very sad facts of crime in our
city. Some Dallas residential streets are NOT receiving regular routine Dallas
Police Patrols (if any at all).

|
|
Review of the city owned, operated AVTS (Automatic
Vehicle Tracking System) plots of patrol activity vs. time of day should
display that NO DPD POLICE
VEHICLES are routinely checking some streets or
alleys within Dallas. Furthermore, not all residents have alarm systems of
ANY sort (panic/burglary/fire). In conclusion, some residents have NO
trained/certified law enforcement personnel keeping an experienced eye on
them or their property, and they have no automatic alarm systems in place.
|
Such conditions
provide an open season for prowlers, rapists,
motor vehicle burglars, arsonists, etc. Yet, taxes for law enforcement
functions continue to grow for fewer police protection services. This subject
becomes more aggravating when a homeowner has a burglar alarm, and the city TOP
law enforcement leaders advocate DEFINITELY not answering such alarm devices
until "SOMEONE ELSE" checks out the property first.
Citizens --- other than a certified Texas Peace Officer, no one else is going to
accomplish "thorough checks" as they should be performed (checking for unlocked
windows and doors, fence locks, etc.), nor will anyone have arrest or
detainment authority should they find a perpetrator on a premise (unless a
serious felony happens to be in progress which they happen to view). The
CURRENT PATROL SYSTEM and the PROPOSED VERIFIED RESPONSE
SYSTEM are outrageous.
Of course, such cumulative inactions DO continue to lead Dallas to national
disgrace in the crime statistic tabulations (burglary being among the highest
per capita in the United States).
Town Hall Meetings are currently being planned to discuss several of the issues
described above. If citizens have concerns relative to the plans for our city
law enforcement actions or lack of actions,
be sure to ATTEND the community meetings, stand up and strongly speak
your concerns. Since some verbal comments in such meetings sometimes go
"ignored", follow up with a letter to your Council Representative and Mayor.
These are very serious matters and deserve to be addressed strongly by citizens
of Dallas communities.
