08/11/05 South Dallas Political Forum

Saturday August 13, IKOJA, a young adult organization based in South Dallas, will host a South Dallas Political Forum at 12 Noon at the Black Forest Theater.

All Black school board and city council members are invited to be on the panel.

One of the strongest but quietest voices in the city is that of young adults (18-35). This will be an opportunity to discuss an agenda that has our interests at heart.

You are invited to attend.

Question: Does local government address any of the concerns of our generation?

IKOJA is a Yoruba term from West Africa that means transition or to move, which is what we need in Dallas, a transition in leadership and to move instead of talk.

IKOJA is the voice of South Dallas? future.

IKOJA is a catalyst for mobilizing young adults to engage in innovative political, economic and social activism in South Dallas.

I would especially encourage anyone living in South Dallas to attend this forum.

We will address the needs of Economic, Education and Political representation for our age group.

We will ask what are their current plans to meet the needs of young adults 18-35 in South Dallas and how can we be a major piece of the solution!

Black Forest Theater, 1920 M.L.K. Blvd (at Harwood); Dallas, TX 75215

League of Women Voters Representative Libby Lee will moderate the Forum.

The South Dallas Political Forum will give the people of Dallas the opportunity to meet their public officials and voice opinions and issues facing the community. The forum will also give elected officials the opportunity to share their political agenda with their constituents and hear the concerns of the people they serve.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
