03/23/05  Ron Price can hardly question anyone's integrity.

You know you are doing something right when a low life like Ron Price starts accusing you of doing wrong.

In case you don't recognize the name, Ron Price is the DISD School Board member who was convicted of beating his wife.  Ron Price is the DISD School Board member who has been fined $600 by the State Ethics Commission for filing late campaign reports, thanks to the efforts of Allen Gwinn.  Of course, there's another shoe about to drop that will cause Ron Price a little more concern.
Anonymouse:
   R
emind DallasArena.com readers that Hollis Brashear named the press box at the new taxpayer funded stadium after himself.  Hollis Brashear Press Box!!!
That explains his affinity for running to the press when he does not get his way.  It also defines his priorities. Stellar DMN reporter, Tawnell Hobbs knew about it, but it must not be "news" to her.

Hollis Brashear is a bully and control freak. Strong women scare him When Ms. Gilliam and Dr. Ewell were on the board, they could give him a look and turn him to a whipped puppy.  That accounts for his endorsement of Ruth Love.  He thought he could control her.
Before a search firm was selected by the board, Love listed him in her promotional materials as a reference.
Although he always tried, the only woman on the school board Brashear could ever push around was and is Lois Parrott.  He must have pictures!

Here are a couple of interesting stories:

Trustees: DISD chief search tainted; 2 accuse board peers of 'brokering deals behind closed doors'
12:56 PM CST on Tuesday, March 22, 2005
By TAWNELL D. HOBBS and TOYA LYNN STEWART / The Dallas Morning News
Two Dallas school trustees want to stop the search for a new superintendent, accusing fellow board members of making backdoor deals.
Trustees Hollis Brashear and Ron Price said that some board members, whom they refused to name, are pushing for certain candidates based on ethnicity and not experience. Mr. Price also accused some board members of contacting potential candidates.
"We agreed that there would be no brokering of deals behind closed doors," Mr. Price said. "Unfortunately that's happened."
Mr. Brashear, who chairs the board's superintendent search committee, said at this point he wants to stop the search.
... Mr. Brashear said on Monday. "Until the board gets its act together, we do not need to bring another person into this situation. This board needs training and team-building."
... Trustee Jerome Garza said he is not aware of any improper conduct and doesn't think the search should be halted. He hopes that the board, as a whole, can discuss the concerns.
... Trustee Joe May said that he has not violated any rules concerning the search and that he thinks everything is going fine.
Trustee Ken Zornes said he was taken aback by the allegations and hasn't observed anything out of line.
... Trustee Jack Lowe said he has not met with any of the candidates privately, but he refused to comment further. Trustee Lew Blackburn declined to comment.
"I'm absolutely stunned," said trustee Nancy Bingham. "We've all been very, very careful, and we all know what the perimeters are. ... Ms. Bingham said that Mr. Brashear and Mr. Price should have raised their concerns with the board before going public.
...  Board President Lois Parrott said she would wait to have a discussion with the board this week before commenting.
... In December, trustees approved a list of qualities that they wanted the next superintendent to have. Those included having a candidate with a proven track record in an urban district, and the ability to work under pressure.
... Mr. Price said the board could keep interim Superintendent Larry Groppel in place until it receives training to better conduct the superintendent search. ...

School Board members Brashear and Price are raising this stink because they wanted a Black Superintendent.  It has been clear for a few weeks the best candidate is an Hispanic man.  Brashear and Price had insisted on using Ruth B. Love and her "current" company for the search effort, even though there was another much more qualified search firm.  They assumed because Love is Black, she would deliver a Black superintendent.  That did not happen.

Since Brashear and Price knew so much about Ruth B Bad, they had to know about the shady state of her various "companies" and/or "covers".  So, who do you think put the word out to the media to look into her corporate history?  When they thought she would deliver them a Black superintendent who would be beholden to them, Brashear and Price were perfectly happy to overlook her background.

When they realized that Ruth B Bad was going to recommend an Hispanic, suddenly Brashear and Price gave DMN's incredibly lazy Tawnell Hobbs (herself as racist as Brashear and Price) information that indicates not only Ruth B Bad, but Ruth B Scammin*.

Questions raised on DISD search firm; Exclusive: Leader of superintendent hunt has overdue taxes
12:55 PM CST on Tuesday, March 22, 2005
by TAWNELL D. HOBBS / The Dallas Morning News
A firm once owned by the woman hired to find Dallas' new school superintendent has not paid a tax bill for more than a decade, ....
Ruth B. Love, who is listed as the owner of the now-defunct Ruth B. Love Enterprises LTD of Oakland, Calif., had her corporation's status suspended in March 1991 ....
Dr. Love said Monday that she is now the sole proprietor of RBL Enterprises LTD, which was described in her application to conduct the district superintendent search as "a comprehensive consulting firm" that was "formed in 1986."
... Sole proprietorship allows an individual to solely operate and be responsible for taxes and liabilities for the business. DISD's requirements specified that the firm applying for the contract had to be a "corporation" or a "limited liability company." The firms that applied also needed to meet certain requirements, such as being "duly organized," "validly existing" and in "good standing."
... Trustee Jerome Garza said he was disappointed to hear about questions involving Dr. Love's finances. ... "I would think that we wouldn't use her services," Mr. Garza said.
Trustee Lew Blackburn said the board will have to discuss the issue at Thursday's meeting.
... Board President Lois Parrott would only say, "I'll have to check into it."
The DISD's original contract with Dr. Love's firm allows payment up to about $55,000. Under the agreement, the district can terminate the contract with Dr. Love for any false statements.
... Dr. Love, a former school superintendent in Oakland and Chicago, began operating her company in Chicago in 1986. She left the Chicago superintendent position in 1984 after the board refused to renew her contract. In 1990, the Illinois secretary of state's office dissolved Dr. Love's company's status because she did not file an annual report.
... When Dr. Love helped conduct a Dallas superintendent search in 1993, her company was called Ruth Love Enterprises.
In her proposal to DISD, she claimed that her company ? by then RBL Enterprises LTD ? employed 10 workers and had an annual sales volume of $500,000. ... The assumed name for the RBL Enterprises LTD expired in 2000, according to records from Alameda County in California.
Some trustees balked when it came time to vote on whether to hire Dr. Love's relatively unknown firm for the superintendent search. The vote was 6-0, with trustees Nancy Bingham, Ken Zornes and Jerome Garza not voting. The three trustees ? and some DISD administrators ? had favored Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates Ltd., a powerhouse of superintendent searches. ...

At least 3 trustees did not support hiring Ruth B Bad's company, but the gutless and paranoid Lois Parrott went along with them so she could retain the only thing that matters to her -- her position as president of the School Board.  She never makes a definitive statement about anything -- she either says she will wait for discussion or "I'll have to check into it."  Good thing she's not in charge of anything important -- like educating our children.

Lois Parrott was elected as President by selling her soul to Joe Thug May, the most racist scum bag in this city.  John Wiley Price can't hold a candle to the contempt Joe Thug May has for anyone remotely White.  What's worse, Joe Thug May works for a federal agency!  He gets to practice his racism on our dime!

But back to Hollis Brashear and Ron Price.  I have never been able to figure out Hollis Brashear.  He is a very articulate and capable man, but always seeks the lowest level when it would be easier to take the high road.  It's like he has some defect that makes him do just the reverse of what he knows to be the right course.

Ron Price, on the other hand, is just worthless.  He has exploited his position as a member of the school board.  Remember DallasArena.com's Look who's playing with our money. (6/20/02)?

06/20/02  Look who's playing with our money.

The DISD Board members are not compensated for their service to the community.  There are many expenses they incur that are necessary in their position.  They should be compensated for legitimate expenses.  Furnishing them cell phones so they are accessible to DISD Administration also is a reasonable expense, so long as an individual board member does not abuse their phone use.

Honest to God, someone sent me an anonymous package on school board member personal expenses -- just when I was really wondering what to write.  Here's some information that might interest you as a taxpayer.

Anchia and Blackburn are both first term board members and were required to travel to complete their required continuing education as school board members.  Ken Zornes is the President of the school board.  Parrot and Staff do little traveling, so my anonymous friend did not include their travel information.

Here's where the members traveled and the costs incurred:

There is nothing particularly excessive about the number of trips taken by Anchia or Blackburn because new Board members are required to attend conferences and conventions to meet continuing education (CE) requirements, but veteran Brashear and Price certainly racked up some dollars -- particularly Price at $11,827.29.  Look at all Price's trips to and near D.C. (Virginia).

Does Price have a relative up there or something?

I just checked my tax appraisal notice of 2001 DISD taxes.  You might want to review yours again.  The DISD tax is the biggest component, and I am not sure I want my money spent for Ron Price to go visit whoever it is he needs to see in Washington, D.C.

Without Price's excessive travel costs, the average per board member (excluding Parrot and Staff) spent $4,485 traveling to/from and attending conferences, meetings and seminars from June, 2001 through May, 2002.  Price spent over 3 times the amount the President of the School Board spent in travel.

Then consider what Ron Price cost the DISD just with his cell phone as compared to the other board members:

Board Member Cell Phone Highest Mo Cell phone 10 mos
Anchia 77.78 721.17
Blackburn 360.59 1,577.03
Brashear 255.70 1,385.46

Price 827.36 3,272.22
Staff 74.04 705.14
Williams 122.45 848.91
Zornes 142.62 1,043.54

Excluding Ron Price's excessive $3,272, the average of the other 8 board members' cellular use is $1,158 for 10 months ($116 per month).  Price used his taxpayer funded cell phone twice as much as anyone else on the Board, and one month he exceeded $800.  How in the world does anyone exceed $800 on a cell phone in one month?
So much needs to be done for DISD students and teachers.  To see any board member abuse DISD resources like this is just nauseating.  Compound Price's waste with his desire to be the next President of the School Board.  Hard to imagine?  It could happen!  ...
We hear Parrott, Brashear and Blackburn would support Price for Board President.  ...
With one more vote from some new board member, we would have big spender Ron Price as President of the School Board.  I am not sure we can afford that. ...

Back in 2002, things were bad but we had Ken Zornes and Rafael Anchea to balance the bad guys and the gutless.  Now, things are looking pretty bleak.

It is a crying shame that a low life like Ron Price can hold elective office, but then he's sitting on a board with Joe Thug May who runs him a close race for belly crawling.  It's worse that these two are in a position to make decisions affecting our children.

I don't understand why Hollis Brashear continues to link himself to Ron Price, but then I don't understand how a big plane gets off the ground.

It looks like all their shameful efforts will come to naught because we just may be getting a very qualified man to run our school district.

Name emerges in DISD search; Board won't comment on Spring ISD leader; he says he's interested
07:26 AM CST on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 By TAWNELL D. HOBBS / The Dallas Morning News
The first name in a secretive search for Dallas' next school superintendent emerged Tuesday. That came as DISD posted meeting agendas for this week that raised questions about the status of the search.
Michael Hinojosa, superintendent of the Spring Independent School District and a former Dallas teacher and coach, has told his school board that he is interested in the Dallas job, said Tim Perdue, school board vice president in the suburban district north of Houston.
"He's a great superintendent, there's no question about that," Mr. Perdue said of Dr. Hinojosa, who declined to comment.
... Trustee Hollis Brashear said he opposes the meeting because the board has not conducted second interviews with candidates. Mr. Brashear added that he has a scheduling conflict and can't attend Friday's meeting.
... Trustee Jerome Garza said the possible vote on a finalist was on the agenda in case the board agrees on a candidate Thursday.
... Trustee Ken Zornes said he'd like to see the board name a sole finalist this week, but he doesn't know if it will happen. He said he has a favorite candidate, but he wouldn't reveal any details.
...  Mr. Brashear, as well as trustees Ron Price and Lew Blackburn, said they had believed the Thursday meeting would involve narrowing the candidates to semifinalists who would receive second interviews. From there, the board would conduct site visits for the semifinalists.
... Mr. Lowe said he favors at least one candidate.
What had been a relatively low-key search turned contentious this week when Mr. Brashear and Mr. Price accused some trustees of making backdoor deals.
...
Mr. Price said Tuesday that it's a bad idea to consider naming a finalist Friday. ...

From what I've heard about Dr. Hinojosa, we would be incredibly lucky to have him consider running the DISD.  The fact that Ron Price is against him means Dr. Hinojosa is the right man for the job.

Having a scum bag like Ron Price challenge the process means it's being done right.

Having a scum bag like Ron Price accuse "some trustees of making backdoor deals" means his backdoor deal got closed in his face.

Having a scum bag like Ron Price question anyone's integrity means the target of his wrath is an honorable man or woman.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
