03/03/05 Or, Old Al, the Vulture?
 |
|
The African-American community, and Councilman James Fantroy in particular,
now knows how the Bachman-Northwest Highway community felt a few years ago
when we learned about Old Al's treachery as a city councilman. They
know it's true that he has a scoundrel, but it isn't so amusing to learn
he's shafting them, too. |
When we learned Old Al Lipscomb
had sold out our community for a few thousand dollars, we were stunned.
The harm to Bachman-NW from Old Al's malfeasance is incalculable, and we are
still trying to undue the damage. The reason Bachman-NW became the topless
club center of the local perverts' universe is because Old Al had Terrell Bolton
order police personnel out of the Northwest Substation to "lay off enforcement"
in the topless bars in our area. During Old Al's federal trial, we learned
that Caligua Rizzo had paid him a pitifully small bribe to get DPD officers off
his back, which meant to stop the police from enforcing our public lewdness
laws, not to mention interfering with drug use in the clubs. Caligua Rizzo
may have paid the bribe, but all the sex clubs in the area benefited by Old Al's
assistance to Rizzo.
During that trial, many African-American community leaders traipsed out to
Amarillo to testify on Old Al's behalf because they felt a sense of gratitude
for his past leadership in Dallas civil rights efforts. That was always
hard for me to understand considering his history as a pimp and drug pusher.
The apologists would have you believe Old Al left his bad ways behind in
California after learning his lesson while he served time. That would be
wishful thinking way beyond naivet? All the movers and shakers of the
50's and 60's know how Old Al supplemented his waiter's income.
Old Al was a bad man as a young man, he was a bad man before he went on the
council, he was a bad man while he sat around the horse show and he is still a
bad man.

|
Old Al is absolutely being paid by someone in the
Strong-Arm Mayor Cabal to keep things stirred up. African-American
community leaders thought they had an agreement with Old Al to keep a low
profile so as not to allow The
Dallas Managed News and the
Strong-Arm Mayor Cabal to make the campaign a Black vs. White fight.
|
Before anyone could blink, Old
Al was at City Hall comparing Laura Miller to Hitler, READING FROM A TYPED TEXT.
After taking the old fool to the woodshed to get him straight on his role in the
matter, Old Al designates a treasurer for his campaign to unseat Councilman
James Fantroy. Once again, community leaders "talked" to Old Al to try to
"explain" why it would be a very bad thing for him to try to divide the
African-American community just now -- not to mention the impact the possibility
of having a CONVICTED AND CONFESSED BRIBE-TAKER return to the council would have
on North Dallas white voters in the Strong-Arm Mayor campaign.
If you actually believe Old Al does not know exactly what he's doing, why in the
World are you reading DallasArena.com? He is doing exactly what he has
been paid to do -- exactly what he has always done -- selling out the
African-American community for a few pieces of silver from his Park Cities
keepers.

Councilman James Fantroy is in very bad health.
He wants to stop the Blackwood proposal, and he wants to serve another term
on the City Council. He thinks his health problems are manageable,
even if they are serious and incurable. He wanted to spend his
energies and money fighting the Blackwood proposal, Old Al wants to divert
Fantroy's efforts to protecting his council seat. |
Wednesday, Councilman Fantroy
made a public statement of his affection and friendship for Old Al. He expected
Old Al to reciprocate (as they had apparently agreed the night before).
Mr. Fantroy looks tough, but he's apparently pretty gullible where Old Al's
concerned.

Lipscomb won't return Fantroy's apology

The plan Wednesday was for a public
peacemaking, helping present a united front between two political giants of
Dallas' southern sector.
... The trouble started last week when former City
Council member Al Lipscomb took steps to reclaim his former seat, now held
by his old friend James Fantroy. The problem?
He never told Fantroy, who then accused Lipscomb of stabbing him in the
back.
... "Someone got with councilman Lipscomb, and
convinced him that maybe my health was where they thought I couldn't serve,"
Fantroy said.
Sources close to both said both
Fantroy and Lipscomb agreed to publicly apologize to the other during
Wednesday's City Council meeting. Lipscomb insisted Fantroy go first.
... But Lipscomb's apology never came. Instead, he
spoke several minutes on another issue, and then went back to the subject at
hand.
"Mr. Fantroy, you know it is my right
... as a World War II veteran with an honorable
discharge, it is my right to run, to file, withdraw, refile if I so
choose," Lipscomb said. "I want the media to know that."
... "Sir, you never heard me say anything about a
misunder(standing)," Lipscomb said.
... Fantroy said opposing the strong-mayor
initiative was bigger than both of them.
"I'm here to serve the community, and
I don't have that ego," Fantroy said. "So whatever we have to do, I'll do it
to make sure that this community knows that we, we are together."
... Lipscomb still has not ruled out running. He
has until March 7 to jump back in. |
There is absolutely no other
explanation for Old Al's erratic behavior except he is being paid to be
disruptive and obnoxious, both of which he thoroughly enjoys.
Old Al not only shames the African-American community, he debases all World War
II veterans by identifying himself as a veteran. Old Al is also a
CONVICTED AND CONFESSED BRIBE-TAKER.

I have been very critical of James Fantroy on DallasArena.com, and will
likely have cause to criticize him again. While we were visiting at
the Coalition for Open Government event in the Flag Room on Wednesday, the
councilman asked me if the Mayor and I were talking much these days. I
told him she probably was not happy with me, but we are friends.
|
Laura Miller and I disagree big
time on this Strong-Mayor thing, on the Trinity Bridges, on the Woodall Rodgers
lid and her new priorities, and I don't understand how she could have gone so
far from the candidate we all worked so hard to get elected. It bothers me
that she has aligned herself with Bah! Bah! Blackwood and the Park Cities Cabal.
I don't understand it.
If Laura and I agreed to make some kind of public declaration of our continued
friendship and she asked me to go first, I guarantee you she would hold up her
end of the agreement. She's on a wrong road, but she's my friend when push
comes to shove.
James Fantroy went the extra mile to allow Old Al to back off with dignity.
Old Al humiliated a man who considered him a friend, but then Old Al sold women
into prostitution and sold heroin.

"Someone got with councilman Lipscomb,
and convinced him that maybe my health was where they thought I couldn't
serve," Fantroy said. |
Councilman James Fantroy may
have serious health problems, but it's Al Lipscomb who's really sick.
