Letters:
Discretionary funds in bond?
Funds are bad idea by Harry Trujillo

Re:
"Council
members weighing bond funds for pet projects
? Dallas: Some want discretionary money
in record bond package," Tuesday Metro.
Discretionary funds in the 2006 bond
program is not what a vast majority of Dallas' taxpayers will support.
We must know what we are funding when
we vote on this bond package. Put it this way: Why not ask Dallas residents
to vote for or against the use of discretionary funds, along with the vote
for the 2006 bond program, and see what the city's shareholders decide?
I am amazed this City Council would
even entertain use of discretionary funds, considering the ongoing FBI
investigation into possible corruption at City Hall and the fact that some
city tax money is used to pay back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service
because one member of the City Council has problems with the IRS.
