04/05/06  Immigration

Those of us who have been engaged in immigration reform for years could not have written a more perfect script to illustrate why it is mandatory that we gain control over our borders and curtail immigration than those truancy students did themselves.  They hoisted themselves on their own petard.

American employers provide the jobs these kids' parents work at to provide a roof over their heads.  American laws provide these students the freedom to march in the streets in protest.  American tax dollars provide the schools and free education these kids receive.  American benevolence and compassion allow them to remain in the country illegally, despite the awful costs to our jobs, economy and society.

And yet, they have the nerve to wrap themselves in the flag of Mexico, the country that all but put them on the bus and forced them to seek a better life than Mexico is willing to afford them.

Whatever their intentions, these kids demonstrated they are not the least bit appreciative of the benefits and opportunities provided to them in America.  Since the majority of their parents came to America to provide a better life for their kids, these students of Mexico have demonstrated beyond any shadow of doubt that neither they nor their parents deserve the proposed amnesty, and that any guest worker program would be extremely dangerous for our country and our own citizens.

They do not now nor will they ever own any loyalty to the U.S.  Their first allegiance will always lay with Mexico.  As one little girl who was wrapped in her Mexican flag so succinctly put it, "The most important thing is that I am Mexican, and just because I was born here does not mean I have to have an American flag."

They ask Americans to have mercy on them, to have compassion for them, to give them amnesty and give them jobs, as they spit in our faces.  They accuse Americans of being racist, xenophobic.

I can't imagine anything more racist than moving to a foreign country and demanding the host civilization adopt your foreign language.

I can't imagine anything more xenophobic than moving to a bountiful country which tolerates your violation of their every law, and wrapping yourself in the flag of your own country that all but rejected you as worthless.

These students more than adequately demonstrated they have no respect for the U.S., and have no intentions of assimilating into American society.  Like their parents, they demonstrated that they intend to continue incubating their loyalty to a foreign country and will be passing those lessons on to their own children.  If their population is allowed to continue exploding in America as it has done over the past years, who is going to be around in a few generations to defend and protect America.  Who is going to be around to honor our Founding Fathers, our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights.  Certainly not these kids, nor their kids.

Does anyone want to live in the America they are remaking in the image of Mexico?

Not me.

Phone, write, visit your legislators to reject the Senate version of HR 4437.

Urge them to adopt the House version of HR 4437.  Tell them Americans will not accept any amnesty program nor any legalization of illegal aliens.  Tell them we want any guest worker accord with Mexico completely off the table.  Tell them that if any guest worker program is really necessary that there are willing workers from countries other than Mexico who are more appreciative of America and more deserving of the bounties we have to offer.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
