Editor's comments: This project got started with former Park Board
President Dwaine Caraway. Dwaine, Michael Davis and other good citizens
are doing something very important for this city. As the City Manager says
"I have never underestimated the effectiveness of one determined human
being."

Here's an
update on our movement to rid the Southern Sector of Hot-Sheet motels which
allow drugs, violence, prostitution and other
crimes.
Interstate Motel –
Beckley & Overton, Oak Cliff
The City Council will hear the case
to deny the renewal of a Special Use Permit on Wednesday January 11th in the
City Hall Council Chambers. We convinced the City Plan Commission to deny
the renewal in November 2005.
This
Item was pulled from 1/11/06
City Council Agenda at the request of the owner
of the Motel. They can pull the item once, but it must be heard in the
next 60 days. We will let you know once it is rescheduled.
American Inn – 4538 Scyene, South Dallas
The Board of Adjustment will hear the
case to move forward with the closing and demolition of this motel on
Wednesday January 18th at 1 PM. The signs are posted by the City of Dallas
at the property, for all to see.
The meeting will be held in City Hall,
Floor L-1 Auditorium.
