11/03/07   Lies being told 11/2/7 at Beckly Sub-Courthouse

This graphic was used by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway  (in dark suit below) to convince voters to vote AGAINST Dallas Proposition 1  Friday evening, 11-02-07, around 5 pm, outside the Beckly Sub-Courthouse in Oak Cliff.  The large poster clearly shows a 4 lane road, two lanes each way, which is what Proposition 1 will limit the road to if the majority votes FOR Proposition 1. Voting AGAINST Proposition 1 allows the number of lanes to more than double!

Mr. Caraway was telling voters to vote against Proposition 1 so as to get what is in the picture. When a voter pointed out that he was lying and misleading people, Mr. Caraway reportedly just smiled and said "You got me, I'm lying... I'm lying".  When it was pointed out that the planned toll road will be from 6 to 8 lanes and you have to vote FOR Proposition 1 to limit it to 4 lanes, Mr. Caraway did not deny it.

Around 5:00 pm, I spoke with my City Councilman Tennell Atkins (in white shirt) about the need to divert that 80% of through traffic around the mix-master.  Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway came by to warn him I had a device in my hand that looked like a recording device.  (It was a video camera that I had not turned on.)  My discussion with Councilman Tennell Atkins about the diversion of traffic ended with him only urging me to go inside and vote.  It appeared he had never considered diverting the traffic just driving through Dallas away from the downtown mixmaster.  Councilman Atkins had no response when I pointed out that for the $1.3 billion dollars the floodway toll road would cost they probably could easily add 2 lanes each way around the city on the Loop 12/I-635 loop to handle the diverted traffic.  hat money could probably also cover toll booths.  He seemed to want to avoid discussing the question.

Another day in the life of a city,

The toll road will cover everything to the right of the little red flag near the "t" in "toll road" in the smaller sign.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
