Because I was
out of town, I got behind on
the news related to the latest DISD
dysfunctions. There
were articles in the DMN that appeared
while I was gone that beg for comment.
One of them is the DMN
editorial,
Don't Undermine Change: DISD
restructuring is painful - but
necessary.
(DallasNews.com,
9/17/7).
If I were in his place, I certainly
wouldn't admit to not having the support
of 6 of the 9 trustees. Sounds like
Dr. Hinojosa's really on the losing side
here. The trustees are his bosses.
This reminds me about when then-Superintendent Rojas publicly ridiculed Trustees Brashear and Parrot for not supporting his privatization of some of the schools. You never take your bosses on publicly. It never works. I used to think Hinojosa was just inept. With this latest move, I think he's plain dumb. The trustees who still think he can turn DISD into a top-achieving district might even be classified as dumber by others, but don't put me in that column. I would hate to think that we have "dumb and dumber" running the school district. I have to believe that at the end of the day the trustees will do the right thing, set things right, and get us on the road to achievement. I know that was their hope under Hinojosa, but it's just not working.
Maybe this editorial will be as
interesting for you as it was for me. It seems that
Dr. Hinojosa has now become a cry baby.
All of us who are unhappy with what his
leadership has yielded so far should each send a box of tissues to
3700 Ross to help Hinojosa cry himself right out of here.
More later. Gehrig Saldaņa |
