Remember, we re-built North Central Expressway and DID NOT have to build a reliever road system. TxDOT managed to keep traffic flowing in both directions through a system of floating lanes during the construction process.
TxDOT was also able to build the
High Five and not build a reliever road system.
As a former public servant, I want to tell TxDOT to stand up
for yourself and show the public
you can meet the "Canyon Challenge" in the same
way. Show the public one more time that you are truly worth your pay!
Next, where can we see a copy of the Laura Miller consultant
study that got this Trinity River project so off track in the first place?
References were made to this study
in the mayoral debates. To my knowledge, there is no public
place is available for us to actually see it and
read for ourselves what it actually says -- especially what it says about
how much all of this will cost.
Any ideas on where we can get a copy of this "plan"?
Furthermore, will City staff come clean and actually do a
side-by-side comparison of what was to be funded in the 1998 Bond Proposal
and what was proposed in the plan we have to
stop? This would be the best way to redeem themselves from what the
politicos have done to them. There is a BIG GAP in the costs for these two
proposals ...
Finally, why not save a TON of money and drive 30 miles west
to Fort Worth and see what they have done with their stretch of the Trinity
River. It is beautiful, used by all, and cost almost nothing to develop
(especially compared to what Dallas wants to do). Why is it that any time
Dallas wants to do something, it spends lots of money and forgets that Fort
Worth has probably already done it better and cheaper?
Like free parking Downtown after 5-pm and on weekends. A total "no brainer" as far as I see it! Yeah Fort Worth!
