6/07/07    Ed Oakley's political attacks on Tom Leppert
Looks like Ed Oakley finally picked on a Tiger who will hold him accountable for his misrepresented attack ads.

I have been rather impressed how Tom Leppert has utilized mass media to effectively boomerang a credibility factor back into Ed Oakley's lap.

Tom Leppert's support from many noted religious ministers from Dallas' southern sector along with noted endorsements of Hispanic leaders such as Adelfa Callejo, Jesse Diaz and Joe Alcantar further hampers Ed Oakley's ability to seek his anticipated win with a big majority of Dallas' Hispanic and Black voters.

Still, today's endorsement of Tom Leppert by Oakley's council colleague has Ed Oakley is sucking eggs tonight.   Don Hill's endorsement of Leppert practically seals loser status for Ed Oakley.
The declining issue of the gay factor being in play in Dallas' elections better serves the democratic process, that is good.  However, when gay political organizations such as the Stonewall Democrat Organization spearheads Dallas' mayoral non-partisan election into an ill served partisan process, the endorsement of Tom Leppert by those Black religious ministers is certain to become even more significant.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
