02/19/07 On the matter of DISD --
Come on, this is NOT brain surgery!
The residency requirement was not any secret to
Celso Martinez when he applied for the position. The simple solution to
this issue was to send Celso Martinez a letter
saying that living outside the district beyond the six
months grace period was an error. Revoke his pay
for that period, and with appropriate apologies,
demote him to a lower position
without a residency requirement and let him know
his application will be reconsidered once he meets all of the requirements
of his previous job.
Then, place someone in the job who does live in the district. At this point, one qualification is no more important than another, so the replacement or interim person does not even have to have a public information background. All they need to do is live in the district. (You see where I am going with this ...).
So-called "intelligent" people should know
better. This type of behavior would not be tolerated out of a child.
So,we why should be even be considering
this breach from any high-level official?
For the same or less money, we could find a HIGHLY QUALIFIED individual who lives in the district and can read the qualifications well enough to have the job in the first place.
Come on, Dr. Hinojosa! This is not brain
surgery!
