2/14/07  TCACC Bus Caravan Headed for Waco!

The TXU coal-plant permit hearings begin next week in Austin, and the public is invited to come hear a preview of the case against the plants at a big public meeting in Waco - the city that will be most adversely affected by the plant build-out.

The Texas Clean Air Cities Coalition, which is comprised of 36 cities, counties and school boards across the state, will hold a public membership meeting at the Waco Convention Center at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 20.

The coalition's lead attorney, Steve Susman with the law firm Susman Godfrey, will present an overview of the legal case against the plants - the highlight of which will be a Google Earth animated presentation of the emissions leaving the plants and traveling across Central, East and North Texas.

The TCACC commissioned Dr. David Allen, Director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources at the University of Texas-Austin, to perform the air modeling (the most comprehensive ever done in Texas) that will be dynamically presented at the Waco meeting and in the subsequent permit hearings.

Charter buses will leave Dallas' Reunion Arena at 4 pm to go to Waco. The public is invited to reserve a seat at a cost of $10 per person. Drinks and snacks will be provided on the bus.

RSVP by Friday, February 16, to 214-670-4054.

For people traveling by car to Waco, the Waco Convention Center is located in downtown Waco at the corner of Washington and University Parks Dr.

Texas legislators who represent the areas affected by the coal plants are also being invited to attend.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
