8/15/08  Dallas City Council Small Business Attitudes.....

Rad Field

It is quite obvious that the City Of Dallas is not currently capable of living within its means.  Tax revenue, even with valuation increases, is not sustaining
Dallas operating expenses.

Smaller businesses like Woodard Paint & Body are being "forced" to move to Richardson, Irving, Frisco, Plano or Garland due to an unfavorable business climate.

Eminent domain techniques will vaporize small business in downtown Dallas.

Nearby cities LOVE what is transpiring.

The Dallas core is beginning to look like a bedroom community that cannot foot its operating expense requirements. The new Hotel, Bridges and Lakes will not bring in required city operating revenues.  Instead, they will be a drain on available budgets for maintenance and other support needs.

The Dallas core is not close to being capable of providing employment income for the "condo" occupants as are New York and other cities with employment available "downtown".

Even the Dallas Urban Market struggles without subsidy.  The Arts District and Symphony Hall are drains upon tax dollars.

Just not the way to grow a city.

Ward politics is the Devil's key to the soul of the city council.  It is how some council members got themselves in trouble in the past.  It is the bait that will get others in trouble in the future. 4/6/8
